Re: Tweak'd BIGwig VOLUmaker RootBoost-Rx Styler

I must be in the minority @ his wardrobe. Maybe it’s because I don’t actually watch; I’m always just listening. He could wear a tutu and a tiara; I just want *someone, ANYONE* to give us the ingredients for the root serum and different rescue creams. The TSV ingredients finally got posted. The TSV has been live for 17 hours and 2 scents are gone. They had 18 months to load those ingredients. Thanks QVC. 🙄

@Ilovelife123   You are so funny!   I am cracking up!    But I don't like his outfit either.   I did not buy anything from him today.   Still love my Tulipia daydream.

I don't need volume.  I like moisture.   And I don't like trying his new scents.

I will wait to hear what you guys think of the new scents.

It's a hassle to return it and be charged a return fee if we don't like it. So I'll pass. Notice that the models they use have dense, heavy hair. Do they ever show a model with very thin, fine hair? Hmmmmmm.......

@Effie54 I thought he said the model with the white hair had fine hair, probably a lot of it, but fine.  Makes me think of my hairdresser when I bring a picture in of something I like.  Invariably she'll say "She's got more hair than you do."  Translation, that cut won't be the same on you.

I'm going to wait and see what others think about it.

@Icegoddess    the model with the white hair - looks like she had a color treatment too. it looked like they used some blue or violet.  in her hair.  before her white looked fried was tinged with yellow

@Effie54  - Yes, Jane Treacy claimed that only the shampoo and conditioner left her hair almost standing straight up.  She didn't say those words, but pointed to her hair and her hair was pretty much standing straight up. She has very fine hair and not much of it, but when she touched her hair it barely moved, so unless she's got TONS of product in her hair to make it stand straight up (almost) that shampoo and conditioner will leave your hair looking like you've got tons of product in it. Somehow that's not a good marketing technique for a cleanser and conditioner. It would be better of Jane didn't use herself as an example because it's far too obvoious that she's not telling the truth about how she got her hair like that.

Exactly. Like most hosts, I think she puts a lot of product in her hair. I find the hair product presentations very frustrating. No matter which product line it is, inevitably use a model with either thick, heavy, or dense hair. It may be straight and/or matted down, but it's always dense and thick. They never use a model with sparse, fine hair.

Oh yes! They may have fine hair....but the models have TONS of it and it's dense, so it makes a huge difference. I've tried a lot of the hair products, and end up returning all of them. I think I'm gonna pass on this one. It may work for some, but I'm just not going through the return process anymore. I just threw what you did in regards to bringing a picture of what I was looking for for a haircut. I got the "nay" as well.

@CatsyCline I only watched a little of the presentation at midnight and I've been outside most of the day, so haven't watched a full presentation.  I hate that they use the same models no matter what the product and then claim that simply using that one product will give you those results.  If I remember correctly, in the past when they showed that model's Before pic Denis claimed that the yellowing was due to silicones and then said his product didn't have silicones thus no yellowing.  However, Denis often uses silicones in his styling products, so I guess they're okay except when they're not okay to sell a product.  This sorta goes back to MindyD's post about the lack of ingredient listings on QVC.

yes all of tweak'd products are safe on color treated hair

@dm126 I don't know about that.  He has some scrubs and clayditioners that have Rhassoul clay in them and clay (including Rhassoul clay) is known to possibly remove haircolor.  I bought a set of them before I realized that and won't chance it on freshly colored hair. I'll use it occasionally when I'm close to coloring.

The scrub also uses Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate as it's surfactant.  This ingredient is technically considered a sulfate and can cause hair color to fade quickly.

The Coco-Nutty Scrub and Clayditioner also contain polysilicone-29.  It has many benefits, but a huge no for me since it is designed to stay in hair through several washes which means it will build up in the hair and moisture cannot get in.

@JeanLouiseFinch wrote:

@San Antonio Gal  I am doing my best to refrain from purchasing any shampoo and conditioner today. I currently have three big bottles of Tweak'd shampoos and three conditioners opened and change up which one I use.  I used to do the same thing with WeN and needed my husband to install a shelf on the back wall of the shower, above the shower wall, to have a place to keep them organized.

Clearly I don't need more shampoo or conditioner, but the root lifter/volumizer looks interesting. I have tried the Tweak'd scalp serum before, which is also supposed to create more lift and volume, and this new product looks very similar in delivery and application. I ended up having mixed feelings about the original one. The first day was great, but on the second day my roots felt gummy and filmy.  The bottom of my hair still looked fine. It could have been user error on my part, if perhaps I applied too much.  I'm tempted to try the new root lifter, though, just in case it's been improved.  But if it's the same formula only with new scents, I may end up being disappointed again.

PS - I am a big Tweak'd fan and don't miss WeN in the least.

@JeanLouiseFinch  I am with you. I have 2 big bottles of Tweak'd shampoo and conditioner open and also have the scrub and conditioner.  And these big bottles last me forever because I generally only wash my hair twice a week and alternate with WEN.  So while I may be curious about the new formula and some of the scents, I'm not planning to buy the TS.  I'm totally fine to try some of these later if they offer them in smaller sizes at a reasonable price, although by then they will probably be offering different scents...

I too am curious about this root styler.  I happen to like the scalp serum and don't have a problem using it, but like a lot of Tweak'd, less is more.  I've only used it on wet hair before blow drying or styling, so can't speak for using it on dry hair.  This product does look very similar.  Has Denis commented on how they are different?

ETA:  Found this in the Q&A (apparently a lot of people are asking the same question) :

the BigWIG™ Volumaker Gel-to-Patch2O® Root Boost-Rx Styler is primarily a styling product that also has beneficial hair and scalp health ingredients where the Jatamansi Root Biomimetic Scalp and Follicle Soothing Leave-On Serum is a scalp treatment first.

Don't have a problem with his outfits either coz I rarely watch. I have not watched any of the shows today. Has been one of those days.

Maybe he is playing the part, ingredient hunter/Indiana Jones🤷‍♀️

Re: Tweak'd BIGwig VOLUmaker RootBoost-Rx Styler

Thank you, @sueinsf

I hemmed and hawed all day.  Then, based in the clarification, I decided to give it a try.  I wear my hair short, below the ear, in a modified bob, so I don't need huge amounts of volume. I do like some lift at the roots, though, so 🤞
