Asian cosmetics (Japanese and Korean) have to be tested by law. They would rather not, and it's useless to do it; by now most ingredients have behavior understood by science or you can find human volunteers.

Maybe they will stop someday. Having worked in the lab as a young person until I got out of the business, I have to say it's very awful and though in some cases, for pharmaceuticals, you need an animal model (those cancer drugs that saved you from breast cancer? They can KILL you in their unresearched form. They are so toxic, I know a young woman who was a lab tech who got sick and died from exposure. It's dangerous work and the animals are heroes.)

But for makeup? No way. I too do not buy Tarte at the moment though it's a very excellent brand other than that.
