Hi Everyone. I just received the WEN tea tree oil yesterday and am excited to use it. I was going to do an overnight oil treatment tonight. One question though - and I know this was addressed in some previous posts, but wanted to bring it up again. I just got my hair colored this past Sunday. Is it too soon to use the Tea Tree Oil, since some have noticed color loss after using it? And if I shouldn't use it, what oils would you recommend? Any responses would be appreciated. Thank you.

I have never had a problem with any of the TT products (oil or CC) causing any kind or striping or fading of my hair color. And I use TT CC as my base for all my cleanses and the TT oil 2-3 times a week.

My hair color is a medium mahogany brownish-red so I would notice the kind or fading or striping of the color.

For me, Wen holds my color a LOT better then any regular shampoo or conditioner.

I've never noticed that happening. I use drugstore reds, so my color fades no matter what and did long before I started using Tea Tree CC or oil, but I've never seen color wash down the drain with any WEN products. I've never seen color come off on my hand when I've used a WEN product, either.

Thank you both for your responses. Can I ask, do you apply the TT oil on your scalp and the rest of your hair, or just put it on the scalp area?

Arianny congrats on getting the TT--you're gonna love it!!!!

It's a personal preference where you want to use it. You're supposed to apply it to your scalp and gently massage, put up your hair and let it sit overnight or however long... You can also apply to the tips/lengths of your hair if you feel it's damaged, dry or in need of help.

I use it every which way.lol Sometimes on my scalp, sometimes on the ends, sometimes both...And I use it after cleansing too--I add a few drops to my hands and work through the ends--if I'm really dry or had a chemical service done, I add some back to my scalp too after cleansing(before leave in, styling creme, etc). There really isn't a one-size-fits all way of doing it. Whatever you think is right, is the right thingSmiley Happy

If you get color services done, if you use the TT oil regularly you'll notice your hair grows much much faster--and you'll need your roots done more often. Small price to pay for awesome hair though!

Arianny, if you're worried about losing some of your color with the TT oil, you might want to start out using 100% jojoba oil which is the main ingredient in the Wen oils. You should be able to buy a 4oz. bottle for $10-15. Just put some jojoba oil in your hands and massage it into your scalp. When your scalp starts to feel a bit oily, then you know it's been saturated. I know that if I haven't done an overnight oil treatment in a few weeks that my scalp seems to soak up more jojoba oil. You can rub the excess on your face, arms and legs.

Jojoba oil and TT oil both are great emulsifiers. They help loosen the dried sebum and dirt/grit on your scalp. When you cleanse your hair the following morning, this washes the excess gunk away and allows your scalp to breathe more easily.

People seem divided on whether or not TT oil can remove color from treated hair. So if you're a bit worried about this, you might want to try out jojoba oil first.

Best of luck!!
