Re: Sweating Drops Progress Report

@monicakm @decaf I don't like these shows either.  A lot of nasty stuff!  But I have foot issues that are far down the line for me to address and watch the foot doctor shows and saw the commercial for the sweaty show.

The patient was a young woman with excessive sweating in the armpits, hands, feet.  She had always suffered from the sweating.  The derm said there was no cure, just management (continuous treatment).  She gave 200 injections in the 3 areas.  Before she injected, she applied iodine to help her identify the areas where there was more sweating, so she would know where best to inject.  I could see how this may not work for those of us with scalp issues, making it more difficult to treat.  The injections are painful in the hands and more in the feet.  Below is a good read on botox treatments for sweating.  Copy and paste in your browser.

@decaf I think you would like to read the above.  It addresses some of the issues we discussed.

When I was doing my online reading, I saw that excessive sweating, especially sweating of the head, can be a sign of a vitamin D deficiency.  This is something I wasn't aware of.  I currently supplement 1000 iu of vitamin D3 per my gp's direction, to address a deficiency.  I think at one point he said I could go up to 2000 iu, but I don't remember the reason.  I didn't do it then, and this is something he checks during my physical.  Looking at the literature, up to 4,000 IU per day is generally considered the safe upper limit, but even doses up to 10,000 IU/day have not been shown to cause toxicity.  The current daily recommended amount of vitamin D is 600 IU per day for adults under the age of 70.  I think I am going to go ahead and double up to a 2000 iu supplement, and see what happens.

@monicakm I am glad you are doing well, sweating wise!

I've been taking 10,000ui of Vit D for decades so I'm definitely not deficient.  My Vit D levels are always good when blood work is done.  My Dr put me on that dosage because of MS.

You can order them from Progressive Labs in Dallas, TX.  The product name is D-82.  Google Progressive Labs and D-82.  It took 10 days to feel the full effect.  I followed the directions on the bottle but the bottle also mentions you can take more if needed.

@NYCLatinaMe@monicakm  This is Pure N Simple,  I changed my nickname to 'decaf' on the new forum and here now too. Thank you, I will watch the Dr. Mercy show for sure.  I can get it on my Xfinity On Demand.  The shots I received weren't painful except the forehead area.  I can still see where she gave me the shots there too.

I supplement with1000 iu of vitamin D daily and there's about 700 iu in my daily multi vitamin too.  Also my labs are always good for that, but thanks for the good insight on that.  I wish we could pinpoint the cause or some causes for this horrible affliction.  I still believe my body was permanently affected after taking that drug, cymbalta.  I'd bet there's plenty of people, maybe even online complaining about this long term side effect.  There should be a class action suit against the manufacturer.

Thanks for the update @decaf!. I hope the problem is not permanent!  How long ago since you stopped the cymbalta?

Re: Sweating Drops Progress Report

I've tried to get off of Cymbalta a couple of times.  The body pain came back hard!  That's why I'm on it.  It's an anti-depressant that works on pain.

I've tried Lyica and other's like it but they caused severe swelling.

@monicakm looking at this message, hope this didn't sound insensitive.  Meant good to know you were taking that much Vit D without issue.  You had mentioned your MS before.  I am sure is not easy.
