Especially on the side of my toungue and Boy does it hurt!" But you can't see the sore?!?!? It gets to the point where I can't speak. Help!"
I don't have Sjrongens but I often get mouth sores. Like Lavendar said Lysine, which is an amino acid, in high doses is the only thing that helps heal them. You can find it where vitamins are sold. I get mine at GNC.

For those who use Lysine, I also recommend this ointment. I got mine locally at the health food store, but you can find it online.

hmm... I have the cracks in my lips at the corners; lysine and lecithin help me; have been immuno-suppressed many times in life for sinus problems. grrrr... no md has ever put these together for Sjo. Syn... hmmmm interesting stuff here.
I DID read about various diseases that are chronic and experienced (mostly) by women that occur in "bunches." Migraine, sinus, eczema, chronic fatigue, tmj are some mentioned that they were doing studies on.

Google: Sjogren's Syndrome Foundation
It was originally called the Moisture Seekers and I still use that name. Once you join you can enter their forum. Lots of young women with similar problems. It's worth the $35 dollars. You get a newsletter and I think there might be a new book.
There's a phrase that if you have one autoimmune disease, you'll get two more. No science behind it but it's often the case.
My labs are almost always normal but the rheumatologist I see diagnosed me by clinical symptoms. It started with my eyes.
I wondered if I really had it but then my maternal aunt got it after an emotional trauma. She was in her seventies and I think if there hadn't been a causative factor she wouldn't have gotten it but obviously the genetic link was there. All the autoimmune diseases are on my mother's side.
Sjogren's can be primary or accompany another autoimmune illness; usually rheumatoid arthritis.
Cracks in the corner of the mouth can also be a sign of B12 deficiency and anemia. I had really bad ones before a serious Crohn's flare and that was the cause.

Very interesting! I actually take L-lysine capsules every day but didn't realize that it also comes in an ointment. (I believe that it helps to lessen the chances of viruses in myself, but please, anyone, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before starting them.) I'm wondering if the delivery of the substance in the topical form is as effective as the capsules, though ![]()

My dentist told me the same thing when I went in with cracks on the side of my mouth. He prescribed anti fungal pills for me and now when I start to get them, I put anti fungal cream on it....usually use OTC.

What are some OTC fungal creams/ointments?

BTW, I wanted to mention that my M.D. recommended Lypsl to me and I had disasterous results! My problem multiplied by 30 overnight. I think each one of us has her own reactions, be they good or bad to any specific product at any time depending on the health of our overall systems.
