I would go for a light BB cream.

Another southern girl here! I haven't seen any mention here of it, but I'm really liking Mary Kay's CC Cream SPF 15 this summer. It's light coverage but is buildable to medium. Feels like nothing on my skin, but sure evens things out!

You can't beat mineral makeup for feeling like there is nothing on. Those with titanium dioxide and zinc oxide contain SPF. Unlike liquid or cream makeup, with minerals it doesn't melt off your face after a long hot day. I use Everyday Minerals (online company) but there are many options out there. You mentioned trying Tarte and I've worn their airbrush foundation powder and it's very nice and gives you the feel of mineral foundation. Good luck in your search. I live in Texas where we have hot and humid summers so I feel your pain.

I am using Lioele Gel Foundation. You can only buy online at ebay or lioeletexasdotcom. It is a primer, concealer, foundation and powder all in one. It stood up to high 80's, high humidity and no ac in my car. It also feels lightweight and has SPF.

Laura Geller Baked Elements foundation is really nice. Its very light and the best part is when you get sweaty, it doesn't cake up in the wrinkles. Its fairly new and I just started using it and am very pleased.

I like Lioele Gel Foundation or Missha Perfect Cover BB cream. They both work great for summer and have spf.

Estee Lauder is the best liquid fdn I've tried. For powder, I got the IT Tsv and that powder foundation is GREAT but has no SPF. But you can put a primer w SPF under it. I love it. Was out walking in Baltimore and it never budged.

bareSkin is a good one!
Even better (IMO) is Sephora's brand spray foundation. I spray and then buff in with a good face brush. Real Techniques works wonderfully. It's sweat proof and looks like your skin but better. Sephora has a hard time keeping it on the shelves, and the shade range is rather limited but forgiving. I'd say between the two shades I tried, they lean more neutral than too warm. It's fabulous, but I believe you'd have to add your own sunscreen. Sephora spray foundation has less coverage than bareSkin. I really LOVE it. ![]()
While I personally can't vouch for it, I've heard good things about No Foundation Foundation.. worth checking out.
There's a primer which works as a foundation, but my mind has gone blank on that one. It gets good reviews, that's why I'm mentioning.
Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Try a BB cream from the drugstore like Rimmel (I have) or Neutrogena. Gives light coverage, SPF over 20 and a very nice finish and does not cost much. If you want high end then look at Laura Mercier, aveda, Stila, Bobbi Brown.
