Re: Suggestions please for shampoo and conditioner for damaged hair

@Alison Wonderland

I started using the Devacurl No Poo and Conditioner about a year and a half ago. It was weird getting used to not having lather when I shampooed but I am used to now.

Once in a while, when we travel and I forget my travel sized Devacurl stuff I use shampoo. I can't believe the difference - my very wavy/almost curly hair is dry and looks like I stuck my finger in an electrical socket cuz it sticks out in all directions.

I will never, ever go back to regular 'ol shampoo. I ALSO highly recommend the Devacurl products for anyone with wavy to curly hair. I love it!

I would use something gentle and free of chemicals though!!  Some of them are full of chemicals you dont need and even  some of the hot oil treatments are too.

Re: Suggestions please for shampoo and conditioner for damaged hair

@SouthernBee, congrats on beating cancer.

I recommend Phyto, a French brand which makes only plant-based products.  Not sold everywhere but dermstore has it and some dept. stores and sometimes Amazon.  It's an incredible line of products and I recommend the leave-in conditioner, especially when you don't blow dry.  They have a line Phytocytane for thinning hair and it works well.

And for taming frizz and softening hair I recommend the Verb Ghost line of products.  I do blow dry using a Cibu accelator.  I put a brush to my hair as little as possible.  Then when it's dry I spray the Ghost Oil, brush it through once and from them on use my only my hands to smooth my hair if possible.

I get my Verb at Sephora. It's also at Amazon and in some other places.  I'm obsessed with the whole Verb line now because it leaves my hair so soft and manageable.

Re: Suggestions please for shampoo and conditioner for damaged hair

@Shanus: I understand what you are saying. My DH is very special  to accept me and my disabilities. He is retired military dealing with various health issues that include memory problems. He is not controlling or strict like some men. He tries so hard to spoil me . I have to be careful about just mention something that I think I would like to try because it will be purchased for me. He loves to see me happy and excited. He makes very few request of me and always states that he believes I look better with some color because the grey hair makes me look very sick and much older. He has already given me a gift card to purchase any items I need to make my hair healthy and manageable. Southern Bee

@Alison Wonderland: Thank you. Previously tried Wen and it made hair more damaged and falling out. Will do research on the DevaCurl. Southern Bee
