I have thick ,coarse, curly, frizzy , dry, damaged and color treated hair. Had below shoulder length hair just cut because it was tangled in knots. Off cancer meds for three years. Have tried various top rated store brands, salon best recommended, Wen and several brands from on line. I no longer us blow dryer, tools to straighten hair. Best recent product: the tee shirt drying towel that does decrease some frizzy hair. I have several areas of bald spots and hair very thin on the top. Hair was very thick around the middle and when stylist cut the hair she also thinned this area. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks, Southern Bee

@SouthernBeeCould you list the brands that you have tried and didn't work?

@VenturaHighway: Trying to remember all the brands and how to spell them. Just about every salon brand like Aveda,Halo , Redkin , or something like that. All the top rated store brands and many with the special oils , and on line brands like Derm organic. Some were in white bottles, gold , blue, red and grey. Wish I could remember more. Just frustrated and tired of bad looking hair. I purchased a few wigs but they did not really fit and did not like them. I do not drive and depend on friends for transportation and no longer go to salons. Southern Bee

@SouthernBee I suggest Bumble and Bumble's Hairdresser's invisible oil shampoo and conditioner. Turns coarse, frizzy hair into silk. There are various sizes and I am sure they stand behind their products. Call and order if you are interested or call with questions and order online.

My hair is pretty cooperative, but it has its days. It grew back fine after chemo. I have a friend that wasn't so lucky. She has thinning problems and continues to wear a wig. For me, the shampoo/conditioner isn't what makes my hair manageable. It's the product I put on after. I always use leave in conditioner. Don't need a lot. Then use a product just for frizz. Rub it in your hands and scrunch the curls.

@Katcat1: I'm not sure but believe I tried the hair paste that was good yet expensive and thought could not afford the shampoo & conditioner. My stylist at the time , was very good but very expensive. He wanted to do the keratin (sp) straightening stated it would also make my hair look like silk but need to be done every 6 months for $200 and would not give me any discounts. I am retired and could not afford every thing he wanted to do. I will research the other products. Thanks, Southern Bee

@GCR18: Hope you are doing better after chemo. I am thankful and try not to complain about my hair because even with problems I still have hair but would like for it to look good and be more manageable. I try not to complain about my eyebrows or lack of and no eyelashes just don't like for people to stare. One child said- look Mom only one eyebrow! Southern Bee

@SouthernBeeI have used this VO5 oil for as long as I can remember. It is cheap and works well. You might try somethng like this first. I wet my hair and apply the oil. Then put a plastic cap on for about an hour. I do this once a week. Then shampoo and condition.

I'm good. I'll be three years cancer free on May 4th. I think after being bald for almost a year, nothing about hair bothers me anymore. I do understand your concerns though. I work full-time, so I have to be presentable. LOL. You can draw an eye brow on. They sell templates.
As for your hair.... personally, I wouldn't sink more money into shampoo until you use what you bought. The V05 treatment sounds good. I'd go to Sally Beauty Supply and ask for help picking out a good frizz styling product.
