I took biotin daily 10,000-12,000 units, for over a year and it did absolutely nothing for me. Might as well throw money down a rat hole.

I've been taking 5000 MCG daily for a while. The only thing I can say is it makes my nails grow fast and thick which makes them hard to cut...I can do without that. My hair is still thin...no changes at all. I want my hair to get thicker...that's why I take the biotin and it's not working. I think I am going to start taking the bamboo silica as mentioned earlier in this thread.

Yep, thankfully.
Makes my hair and nails healthier, plus they grow faster.
Remember that this means hair everywhere, though. ;-)
But since I started it to help grow out my brows, that's cool.
Just can't grow the tails even remotely-full anymore.
I take "Spring Valley"'s 5,000 mcg strength - less than 5 bucks at Walmart. ![]()

I've been taking biotin for a long time (20+ years)............so "maybe" I would be bald if I didn't..........No way to tell..........and I'm not going to stop!

I have taken biotin for about 5 years now? For a fact, it made my nails much stronger, as to my hair? I have baby fine, thin hair. I have not noticed my hair getting thicker, but.......who knows what it might have been had I not taken the biotin, and I am surely not going to stop it "just in case".![]()

Yes!! I have fine hair also, and it is very healthy looking. I knew it was working when my hairdresser mentioned how fast it was growing!

Has anyone had success strengthening hair and promoting growth with biotin?Yes, I take 5000mg Biotin, and deifinitely see alot more hair. My hair is very fine, but now I have alot of it. Even a hair stylist said I have alot of hair! I was going through some issues about a while back, and had alot of hair falling. I then noticed In some areas my scalp was some what visable...very upsetting to me. A scrunchy would just slide out, my hair was so thin. I started Biotin about 6 mos ago, and I'm thrilled with the increase in hair. Like I said...its still very fine, but I have plenty of it. I buy mine in my local Publix grocery store.
@Dazlin Are you sure it's mg and not mcg? If it is mg., that sounds like way too much.

I can't take biotin. My scalp itches voraciously with it.
