Nordstrom is free shipping both ways as is Zappos.
It's a long journey to find a great foundation but I think it's worth it. Be patient and prepared for trial and error. It is especially hard when you don't live near counters for testing or getting samples.
I know I tend to post a lot about YT but it has been very helpful to me. The quality of their camera and the quality of your screen will effect color but if you find someone that wears a shade you currently wear then you can zip through their videos and see what other foundations they wear in what color. Maybe you have a great match in CoverGirl Colorlast 3 in 1 in 842 but it's too matte for you. Search for Colorlast 3 in 1 842 and a number of review or swatch videos will come up. Stay on that person's channel and look at their list of videos to see if they swatched Maybelline or Urban Decay or whatever.
A popular type of video is called First Impressions and Demo. The YTer will pick a foundation, show the application, comment about the application and then check back during the day to comment on the wear at the 4 hour, 8 hour and maybe 10 hour mark. After a while you get to know their skin issues and if similar, can find the foundation, now just a matter of finding the color. It can be quite fun for those of us with time to spend on the boards and forums.
For those of a certain age, there are more and more Beauty Tubers of our age and it's wonderful to follow them instead of all the 20 something year olds, although I enjoy them, too.

Thanks for the tip about free shipping with Nordstrom. It's been awhile since I checked out YouTube but I will see if I can find someone there with my same coloring.

I got Sisley last week. Very expensive, but a little goes a long way.

Pink undertones, neutrals, yellow undertones, etc. Her Invisible Finishing Powder is wonderful. Very large container for the money & great product. Her foundations & tinted moisturizer are top rated.
The OP wants only cruelty-free products. Laura Mercier is no longer cruelty-free.

I am light skinned, in my menopause years and have dark spots. I don't know what is cruelty free but will leave that to you to check out. Benefit Hello Flawless in champagne is very nice, make-up 4 ever has some nice pink ivory as well as neutral shades. They have a cream which is supposed hide anything. I like the HD concealer in 320 or 330, it's a peach tone and covers dark spots well. Amazing cosmetics have a very good color choice and is a nice foundation. The concealer works well also. These are all at Sephora's.
