Hvae you tried Clarins, they do not test on animals. They are in our local department store here so you could get the help of a consultant and some samples. The Clarins rep here also does hair and make up for weddings and she recently did mine and used Clarins, I loved the look and feel. It is pricey, but sometimes you get what you pay for.

I used to use their Bright PLus line. They are listed as testing on animals on Paula B's site beautypedia. My guess is they have started selling in China.

That is disapointing to learn,{#emotions_dlg.blush} I looked them up on yahoo not beauytypedia. Have you tried some of the natural organic brands, we have a couple of health food stores here that also sell some cosmetics.

No the closest Whole Foods is 45 mins away. I have been to it. It is really nice and has a good selection of beauty items. I may just have to plan on going. It is in the same city as Ulta and Sephora. It is just hard shopping with three kids and my husband is not a fan of shopping. I don't like to be far from home during the day because my 13 year old is diabetic.

What about Merle Norman, I did check they are listed by PETA as cruelty free.{#emotions_dlg.wub}

It is slow here today at work, and I am making this my mission! There has to be something!

You know I can't believe I didn't think of this{#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}. My husband's step sister used to own the store but sold it several years ago. It is still open. Thanks for mentioning it! I am definitely planning a trip. My mom is watching my 2 year old daughter for me Friday to eat lunch with my 10 year old for doing good on his report card. I am sure she will not mind if I run some errands while I am kid freeSmiley Happy

I use Nars and love it. Here is a list of cruelty free lists from a blog. My browser does not do live links so must cut and paste. HTH

Thanks for the link. I have really been researching brands. I have used some Nars products in the past but have never tried any of their foundations. I really wish I had a Sephora or Ulta close by. The closest ones are 45 minutes away. I have a hard time picking out a good color match and sometimes it takes a while to see if a foundation is going to work for you or not.

I think it would be worth the trip to Sephora, personally. Some of the salespeople are really knowledgeable. They will also let you try the product there so you can see immediately if it works for you or not.

I gave up on drugstore foundations long ago. The shades are always wrong, the coverage is never right, etc., etc.

Also, do you use a primer? This made a huge difference for me in how foundation appears--I share many of your issues (tend to be dry, powders settle into pores or make me i t c h like crazy, etc.).

Re: So aggravated with trying to find the perfect foundation:(

My suggestion is to go ask for samples (of course with liquids only) & do not purchase until you are reasonably satisfied that it may work for a bit. In the past, I'd swatch on my hand, the salesperson say it was great, the right color, etc. lay out the money, wear it for a few days & then no like it on my skin for any number of reasons due to oxidation of color - too yellow/too orange, too drying, settling into fine lines, etc. I got so tired of being disappointed with foundations, that now I get a sample in a couple I may want to try. I've been lucky enough to have the sample last several days so I can see it over time & I've eliminated some before I spent the money. My skin being very dry even using moisturizers which narrows the market somewhat & I don't find powders work well on my skin espcially in the winter, but IT celebration foundation is ok for me. Currently, I do like the Estee Lauder Double Wear Light, not sure if these are cruelty free tho.

I used to wear primer but it never seemed to do much for me. I do use ISOMERS BB cream which is more like a primer to me. I don't use it regularly though. Have you found one that works good for dry skin?

I SO Feel your pain! I am 56 and I have NEVER been able to find the right foundation. I feel like just saying the heck with it and go without, but, that is not an option for me. I work out in public 6 days a week, and, I DO NOT feel good about myself without my make-up. It sounds like you live in my neck of the woods. We also do not have a Sephora or Ultra. We don't even have a Merle Norman's anymore. We have a small Mall with the Belk's that has the same Counters as you mentioned at yours. I cannot order my make-up, always have to send back. So, I stopped going that route a long time ago. SO, I guess the search is still on. Hopefully, we will ALL hit the Jackpot one day and find that PERFECT ONE!! {#emotions_dlg.thumbup} Good Luck!

Laura Mercier which is sold at Nordstrom among other high end stores does offer many different shades. Pink undertones, neutrals, yellow undertones, etc. Her Invisible Finishing Powder is wonderful. Very large container for the money & great product. Her foundations & tinted moisturizer are top rated.
