Thanks @monicakm. I do use a hydrating essence by Missha and the snail stuff (lol) and then a moisturizer. I think I’m going to try the CeraVe cream and hope it helps my skin barrier.

There is one type of VC that doesn't irritate the skin and it's highly effective (works at 3%). It's an oil-based derivative, THDA, skin-barrier friendly and absorbs much better/easier than any other kind of VC. THDA has a neutral pH so you can layer it with other products w/o concern. 

 

This is one I use. There are several posters here who have recently tried it and really like it. This one contains THDA plus a glycerin-attached form of ascorbic acid which is stable and provides a humectant.
