Aveeno has a shampoo out that makes my hair too soft (I can't use it bc of this), but shiny. You might try it. It's in all white bottle with brown oat leaves.

We might have similar type hair (very coarse, curly), and I have never found shampoo to make that much difference. I think what you might be looking for is a conditioner or styling product that will make it very soft and straight.

I'm loving Fantasia hair straightening cream (It's a white cream similar looking to moisturizer). It's a heavy product and contains a lot of silicone, but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing for coarse hair. I just use a dab (at first I was using too much==greasy!), but if you use the right amount hair will be very soft. I didn't expect it to straighten my hair, but it's much easier to flatiron and stays straight until I wash it again. Good luck!
