Hi, I need help picking a neck cream. They all say they address the signs of aging. I am looking for something that will lighten the dark lines .. I have heard them called tree trunk lines. I have a deep brown complection and my lines are darker.

Help!

I use the same serums and creams on my neck as I do everywhere else.

I like the Bare Minerals neck cream and also Dr. Denese's.

Same as ChynnaBlue. I know the vendors would like you to believe that the neck is entirely different than the face, but it's not--any rich moisturizer will be fine. It may require a heavier serum/moisturizer than your face, but there's nothing special about a 'neck cream' IMO.

I have found that specialized neck creams do help me. (That is a decision each person has to make for herself.)

I have gone through a number of "favorite" neck creams, the latest being by Prai. Yes, Prai, the line sold on HSN, which I had stayed away from because of their absurd story about an ingredient from outer space or something like that, in some of their products. My favorite TV shopping host, Colleen Lopez of HSN, convinced me to try Prai neck cream some time ago, and I am very glad I did. It has been the best at firming my jawline area as well as further diminishing the lines which had been helped somewhat by other products. (I have light skin, so cannot comment on possible effects for darker skin.) I also apply my favorite anti-wrinkle serum directly on the lines. (Current fave serum is Isomers Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, sold on ShopHQ, formerly ShopNBC.)

In the past I had pretty good results with StriVectin Tightening Neck Cream. I've seen good reviews of Serious Skincare's CorrecChin (sold on HSN), but that product did nothing for me. I've also seen good reviews of Skinn Cosmetics' 2 different formulas of neck creams (sold on ShopHQ), but I have not used those.

Good luck finding what works for you! Wink

Strivectin Neck Cream has done a fabulous job on my neck that my face moisturizer never, ever did. I used every night.

For daytime, I use Dr. Perricone Neuropeptide Necolletage. It is a lighter formular than the strivectin, perfect for daytime use.

With constant use, I do not have tree rings. The 'side sleeping' lines on my chest that I am prone to are non-existant really.

I do not agree that the neck and face skin are the same. I have used face products on the thinner skin of my decolletage and broke out. Never had that problem w/ products designed for the neck and chest. I do not tend to ever break out from anything, so I stick w/ neck products.

You do need more emollience on your neck area because you have fewer sebaceous glands there. Which is the only difference about the neck.

While I use the same things on my neck as I do on my face, I always add a different emollient cream. Only my cream doesn't have to have "Neck Cream" on the label.

I've been using the Honey Miel by Perlier.

A true neck formulation that I really did like was Diane Young's.

I have had very good results with Strivectin's neck cream. However, I go to a plastic surgeon's office for facials and Botox, and they recommend Revision Nectifirm. I am finishing up my last jar of Strivectin before I try it. It gets good reviews on Amazon and a 5.0 from only one review on MakeUpAlley.

Sorry, OP, I never really did respond to your original question.

You want to lighten dark lines. Two ways: vitamin C helps to even skin tone.

Also, AHAs helps to get rid of discoloration and any bumpy skin texture.

The trouble with these ingredients is that they are both potent ingredients on the delicate neck area (like I said earlier, due to the fewer sebaceous glands.) If you were to introduce acid type ingredients (assisting in discoloration), you would have to proceed as slowly as you know how.

Vitamin C serum - recommend Kiehl's at 10%.

AHA - recommend Paula's Choice @ 8%.

You need some skin irritation in order to shed the top, dull layer. But the neck is more sensitive, so go slower than slow! Smiley Happy And only introduce one of these at a time. Start with the vitamin C and use in the a.m. After a few weeks, you can introduce the AHAs for p.m. Use those first before applying a moisturizer. Skip a day or two of these if you have to, especially as you begin to use them.

HTH!

I have just begun this routine and so far so good.

I am using Clinque moisture surge as my base and my regular moisture cream over that, both day and night. just a dab or two. I have found my neck has softened up and my rings are less and less. Am really pleased with the results so far.
