Re: Self Tanners Tarte?& my Nakery review

@JeanLouiseFinch  Hi, sorry that I didn't mention which product I used.  Honestly  I didn't know nakery had more than one option in tanners.

I purchased Nakery Beauty Multi-vitamin Tanning serum for face and body.

I did exfoliate - night before.  I was pretty smooth.

I think I read that some people add this serum (or maybe it was on the bottle) into a body moisturizer first.  Anyway, I don't think it was ideal that I added moisturizer over it pretty quickly, but not really a big deal - don't think it did anything particularly negative to the result.

I'm a few days after 1 application and I still have good color on my legs.  There is no scent.  And I'm not dry looking.

There is no covering of my leg imperfections - but overall my legs just look better / healthier.  I do wish it would cover more.  I could try and see what more applications do.  However, I don't want to be too dark.  I have plenty of time to play with this tho, so I'll report back.

Another good thing to report is that it did not make any dark spots darker - which seems pretty miraculous!    The few other self tanners I've used in the past seemed to do that.  What is weird to me, or maybe I don't understand the science of self tanning, is that I have some white spots on my skin - like no pigment or llittle pigment (not sure why) - but this tanner did not cover those spots at all.  Do self tanners need skin to have pigment in order to work?

Re: Self Tanners Tarte?& my Nakery review

@MG Chris is rich girl a bronzer?  I feel worried that anything that is actually makeup will end up rubbing off on things - like chairs, clothing, bedding, etc. Hate that thought!

This tanner did not make my dark spots darker - just the same.  Didn't make my white spots darker either.  And I can still see some veins, however my legs look better with this stuff than without it.

How often should I exfoliate?  Do you always have to reapply the tanner afterwards?

I will try your application advice - rub in circles Smiley Happy

Re: Self Tanners Tarte?& my Nakery review

@nada54  On me, the color is great.  Very natural.  No orange,  not too dark or too light. just healthier looking legs.  I only applied once so don't know what happens yet with more applications.   and as I noted in other posts, for me it did not darken my dark spots so that part is amazing. I'm 3 days after application (I think 3, maybe 2?) - no fading, so far so good.

Yes, I saw the reviews after I ordered it and was very nervous that I had made the wrong choice.  At first they were all very negative. then a few positives posted a few days later. The range of the reviews is crazy - it's like it's not even the same product.

@pietook Westmore is like a makeup for legs?  Does it rub off on things? (clothing, bedding upholstery....)   Does it last through showers? Swimming?  Is it hard to get off?

thanks Smiley Happy

@moonandthestars    It sounds like you are really liking it so that is great!

Sometimes you have to take a chance and not pay attention to reviews.

Not everyone likes the same stuff and honestly sometimes people don't know how to apply it right so they get a bad result.   I am more interested in reviews like yours   people who actually used it right.   Thanks for telling us your experience with it.   I hope you continue to have good results with it.

It is an illuminator. It dries pretty quickly. I have white furniture and it has never rubbed of on my furniture or clothes. It has crushed pearls in it and it makes your legs, arms, or wherever you use it look fantastic. I love the stuff for evenings out.

I exfoliate once a week, with a sugar scrub. I shave throughout the week. You want to let the follicles close so I wait until the next day to tan.

Re: Self Tanners Tarte?& my Nakery review

Please forgive me for not answering in a timely manner!  Life got in the way.  I always wear a wrap towel for about 30 minutes after applying---you don't really have to, but I'm retired and have the time.  Then I take a very soft old tshirt and gently wipe over where it is applied.  I haven't had horrible problems with it getting on clothes etc.---- but it washes out great.  Maybe around the waistband if I have been outside sweating----but nothing noticeable really.
