Question: the second cleanse is the one you leave in for the duration of your shower? Even if you use two different CCs?

Yup, that's what I do. The second cleanse is also the only one that I bother to comb through, but maybe others comb both.

I've found that I need to comb especially for the first cleanse because it's the only way I can be sure of getting the CC to penetrate to the scalp and get my hair clean.

I notice a difference in the results I get if I either do a single cleanse or if I don't fully rinse out the 2nd cleanse since I put back in a lot of leave-in anyway. For my (thick, coarse, curly) hair, I think it's hard for me to use enough CC doing just a single cleanse. Give it a try and see how it works for you Smiley Happy

Thanks, WenGirl. I should have mentioned in my original post that Wen Fig, which I use for moisture, is in the bathroom closet, upside down with the cap on. I haven't even ordered the replacement.

I have no room for trial and error right now!

When you leave some of the 2nd cleanse in your hair, how do you do that? Like how do you determine if you've rinsed out the right amount or if it's even CC throughout your hair.

It's hard to explain and there's no "right" amount...basically, the way my hair is, when I have CC or conditioner in it, I can easily run my fingers through it, and when it's all rinsed out, I can't. So I stop rinsing before it gets to where my fingers don't just glide through. But in case I wasn't clear above, I don't get the best results this way. I am better off rinsing it all out and then adding back my leave in, which is 2-4 pumps of Fig from the 32oz mixed with a dropper full of oil. I thought not rinsing the 2nd cleanse fully would work based on the YouTube vid of Katia getting styled and because when I get my hair cut (Deva), my stylist works the conditioner through my hair and then barely rinses at all.

But you aren't using more product when doing 2 cleanses instead of one. It's the same amount of pumps. With one cleanse you use it all at once, with 2 cleanses you divide the pumps in 1/2 using 1/2 the for the first cleanse and 1/2 for the second.

Really? When I switched from one cleanse to two I doubled my pumps because what I'd been doing for the first cleanse is the same as what I did for my second cleanse. I think that if I did half my pumps for each cleanse then I wouldn't have enough to really work it though my hair.

I'm not saying that's "wrong" because obviously there's no "wrong" way to use it if that's what's working for you. I'm just surprised that one cleanse people do it this way. Interesting!

I agree with Honey. I use 6 pumps for the cleanse and 7 for the final. I have trouble getting the cc through my hair for the cleanse and really have to wet it to spread it.

I have short, fine hair. So my total pumps is 13. I also use an extra pump for leave in with styling cream mixed.

I don't do one cleanse, but Chaz has repeatedly said that the number of pumps recommended on the bottles are for one cleanse, if you do two cleanses divide the pumps in half for each of those two cleanses ( this info has also been on the Wen videos for the last couple years). If 1/2 for two cleanses wasn't enough then you ( general you) weren't using enough for the single cleanse method in the first place.

For my first cleanse I use a couple of pumps at a time and work them into my scalp, adding water as I go. I have fine hair but I've found if I work on the quadrants of my head & only on the scalp, I get a better cleanse. After I've worked it into my scalp, I then massage it through the rest of my hair before I rinse. The second cleanse is opposite - start with my ends & work it in. I've just realized my hair is below my shoulders now & needs more cc. Amazing how much easier it is to distribute when you're using the right amount - lol.

iPad paragraph - Honny, you could add water to your fig to extend it until your order comes. Also try using another cc for first cleanse, fig for second, since that's what you leave in.

I think this is why a lot of people have better results with two cleanses than with one. You are actually using the full amount of product necessary for cleansing and conditioning when you split it between 2 cleanses. I find it really hard with my hair to use all the CC I need with just one cleanse, and when I'm only going to do one (to save time or because I'm going to overnight Re-Moist) I have to consciously pile the CC into my hair beyond the point where it is all distributed through, otherwise my results are worse from not using enough.

I've been "sort of" using Wen for about 3 months...started using it just as a leave-in, then moved on to doing a 2nd cleanse (with 1/2 the pumps for my hair length) with it after my shampoo 3-4 times a week, and a full cleanse once a week. It just takes so much product and it's so expensive! I'm a shampoo every day girl, my hair just feels better that way.

BUT, I talked to a friend yesterday (another new user) and she's been using only Wen, but just ONE cleanse using 1/2 the pumps for her hair length and usually does it daily. She's very happy with her results, so I tried it this morning. My hair looks and feels great! I'm going to keep on this way for awhile and see how it goes. The only non-Wen product I use is hairspray, so there's not a lot of "stuff" to clean out. I made sure I thoroughly massaged it into my scalp, and rinsed completely out. I added back a "quick" pump of CC and a full pump of styling crème as a leave-in.

Oh, and I'm here to say that since using Wen (even only part-time, lol!) I'm losing MUCH LESS hair in the shower...and there seems to be less shedding in general.

I think this is why I was confused, because I really can't see how one could use all of those pumps for just one cleanse when, for me, it would be impossible to work it all through my hair. After a certain point, the CC would just fall off in globs, plus I wouldn't be able to comb it through (or the comb would pull much of it out) and clip it up for the duration of the shower. I use a lot of pumps for each cleanse, like as many as I possibly can, but after a certain point you just can't add in more pumps, right?

I guess I'm just a dummy sometimes. Wink
