@SilleeMee   What is your opinion on Horsetail extract vs bamboo extract?

@tends2dogs

Horsetail extract contains some silica extract it. Bamboo extract has 10 times more silica in it than horsetail does. That was the reason I went for bamboo.

@SilleeMee

So ... is bamboo included in some products, or do you buy it as a stand alone supplement?

It's the silica which can be found in very small amounts in certain supps and it's usually there as a filler to prevent caking in capsules. Silica comes from different sources, for example bamboo and horsetail, which can be purchased and taken as a separate supp.

One of my aunts took a lot of supplements and really messed up her body chemistry.  Very, very sick!

I stay away from all of them.  Just make sure I eat a balanced diet and get exercise.

Well, I think there's a middle ground.  Of course some people definitely overdo it with supplements, but our individual needs are different.    What is balanced for one person might be terribly unbalanced for someone else because our activities and food sources vary so much.   All we can do is stay well-informed and then be guided accordingly.

Some of us, including myself, have gut issues and have difficulties getting all of our nutrients from food alone and need some help in the form of supplements in order to get enough of a 'balanced diet'.

I found another supp which contains Verisol collagen in a tablet form:

Me, too.   I think my diet is very good;  I'm what my sister calls a "health nut".   I have about 5 supplements I take regularly, but not every day.  Just an added sprinkling of quality nutrients, alternating this and that, based on my diet that week.   I DO take only one supplement every day ... for Hair Skin & Nails.
