I need to stay away from "recently aired" on here
I know it's not a big deal, but I haven't ordered from QVC for 11 days.
THe only shopping I did this week for was upcoming birthdays. Husband is the 4th, mom on the 24th and my son on Feb 4th.
One day at a time!!
3redheads, that IS a big deal!! We need to acknowledge all of our little victories, as well as defeats. You're doing great! I try not to check the "recently aired" items either. I don't really have a problem with not watching anymore because between the "hard sell" and repetitive products I can't stand to watch. If I do see something that catches my eye I will either check on-line for the reviews or look on other sites for the same item. By the time I do all the research, I'm out of the "impulse" phase so it's easier not to purchase.

I am putting together a my second Goodwill box of goodies that I no loner need or want. best part is that I will NOT accumulate any more stuff to take its place. I am really gonna enjoy being clutter free! 2015 and beyond will be about ""doing"" and ""being"". Woot!!!

There's nothing wrong with buying something that you've carefully considered and know that you can afford it without going into savings or racking up credit card debt. I think the point of this thread is more about mindless, habitual spending that does nothing to enhance the quality of your life.
At least that's how I see it!
I too deleted my "wish list" as it's too easy to shop from it, especially when they offer 5 easy pays!

One small victory this morning. I went through my massive collection of sweaters and filled a large bag to either be given away to friends/family or donated. Nothing wrong with any of them, but I needed to get rid of those that just don't look that great on me or that haven't been worn for whatever reason in the past year (or longer!). I still have a few "maybes" and they'll go, too, if I don't wear them this season.

My addictions:
Clothes (QVC and resale shops). Way, way too many!
Handbags
Candles
Hand Lotions
Shoes
Books and magazines (when I could go to the library and get them free)
I know that my spending has totally gotten out of control and I'm determined to stop right now, today.
Good luck to all of us.
Thanks for sharing Bluebelle
My addictions are:
Handbags, Watches, Clothes, Boots/Shoes, Makeup and Bath Lotions and such.
I took an inventory this am in my closet that is for nothing but handbags and shoes and I was shocked at how many I have. Also the same for clothes.
I do wear the clothes along with changing out my handbags, but enough is enough for a long while.
I don't know how in the world I could have overlooked how many handbags and shoes I have, but I guess the eyes only see what they want to see.
Good Luck All
Vicki

I have already started a couple of months back. I read an article that stated over 50% of stuff we get, we don't need. In 2013 I order form QVC 6 times(1 item per order; and 1 was a returned. 2014 I order 4 times and 1 was a returned. All orders were from my debit card. If I don't have the cash, I don't buy. My orders from HSN and Ebay is less than that. When I work overtime, I would but myself something. That has stop, saving up for my retirement. I clean out all my inexpensive trinkets. I still look at pretty things and admire. But as you see from my ordering history, I can look and not buy. I redesign my jewelry. I took all my sterling silver and white gold heart jewelry and made a heart charms bracelet. Clothing I redesign. No shopping at either for 2015....... unless
.

My mom,who had been gone for 6 years now, would tell me when I go shopping and have an item in my hand to ask myself.." do I really need it or really want it" then I have added another question " would a vacation be better" Its suprising a wonderful tool to use! I put the money of the item put back into a jar. I will be going to Purto Rico in June! Just in shipping charges I have saved over $100 in a few months! I use this method for just about everything....even Walmart!

Thanks for this thread. You ladies have given me some great ideas here. I especially like the idea of writing everything down to keep track of spending. This works great for me keeping track of my eating but never really thought about it for spending.
I have started to purge my closets but have a way to go.
I have started to toss my catalogs without looking at them too. It's so easy to be tempted.
I will try to be mindful as well. That's a great word.
