That's what I do Witchy Woman. I've been just touching up my roots with my regular hair color for the past 5 years or so. This way I don't get the color build up on the rest of my hair.

I get my hair colored in a salon. So, I have no access to the products.

My natural color and what I get colored is auburn - dark brown with a lot of red.

I have looked for root touch up, but the area of concern is around my face, not a part in the middle.

I can't seem to find a good match. They are either too brown or too red.

Maybe I should try a box color root touch up?

I used a root touch up kit this morning. I think it's worth $5.99 for the ease of use. Ten minutes, perfect color match, no worries about keeping dye products hanging around.

Never a worry, if they are not mixed, I have kept them for years.

Actually, I meant that I would spill them or they'd leak, not that they'd explode if mixed.

I use Gray Away spray. You can get it at the drug store for about 9.99. It works great for emergency touch ups!

There is a hair mascara I get from my stylist. It works great for root touchups between colorings.

I don't trust myself enough to do my own color, HOWEVER! I was thrilled during my last appointment when my stylist introduced me to Joan Rivers Great Hair Day Fill In Powder to help out my roots until my next color appointment. Oh my gosh! I love this stuff! And trust myself enough to use it on my own! {#emotions_dlg.rolleyes} Very simple, and she said that the Powder will last me a long time before I need to buy more.

I have been doing my own color for years. I often use the root touch up. It is $6.00 at CVS most times and I sometimes can get two uses out of each one. I like it because it only takes ten minutes.

I tried the L'oreal Mousse Absolue for this purpose, but the blonde was a yellow brassy tone and I did not like it. I'll bet it works great on dark hair, and you can probably get three or four uses out of it. It is $12 or $13 dollars when not on sale.

I like the L'oreal root stuff better than the Nice n Easy, because I like the plastic brush better.

I've been using Clairol Root Touch Up for years. My roots come in fast and furious and I can't afford to go to salon every 3 to 4 weeks. I use this to hold me over. It works great (at least for me). I've even gotten compliments after I've done it.

For me, it's definitely very helpful. I have very long and thick hair. It's physically very difficult for me to do a full dye job. So I do the Clairol Root Touch Up, in between, and it's very easy. It's a lot easier and less time consuming than doing a full dye and you'd never know.

I use Garnier Nutrisse #63 and the corresponding Clairol Root Touch Up product is a perfect match.

Even if I just purchased the regular dye for touch ups I'd probably feel badly about the waste because it's not like you can save it to use the rest of it up. Plus, then you're back to the more time-consuming process. The touch up takes so little time and is way easier.

That's what works for me, anyway. Smiley Happy

I use Adrien's powder. Quick & easy.
