Re: Roasacea - can you use serums, oils, etc.?

Oh, and my Derm highly recommends upping Vitamin D intake. I was taking 2000 ius, but now I take 4000.

Re: Roasacea - can you use serums, oils, etc.?

I get a rosacea break-out every once in awhile. Prescription Metrogel has never worked on me, and neither has anything else, until I came across a recommendation for a topical product for use on break-out points:

On-The-Spot Acne Treatment by Neutrogena

It works great for me! Really helps and shortens the time visible. I got it at Target.

Re: Roasacea - can you use serums, oils, etc.?

I had a slight case of rosacea and my doctor recommended fish oil capsules. In the first week, the rosacea cleared up. I continued to take the FO for awhile (because of its other benefits). I eventually quit taking them and the rosacea has never returned. This was a few years ago.

Re: Roasacea - can you use serums, oils, etc.?

Here are a few excellent suggestions for you. acure Organics Marula oil is excellent for redness and will keep your skin balanced. acure's day and night moisturizer will slightly firm the skin (very nice). They also have other products. Check out their website and read about the products. I sometimes purchase from them when I only need one item otherwise I buy my acure products at iherb.com at a discounted price. Everything I mentioned is under $20 each. Oil may be $12 or 13.99, etc. Good luck. You will definitely love the Marula oil & night moisturizer. I also love their body lotions & shampoos.

Re: Roasacea - can you use serums, oils, etc.?

I was prescribed Finacea for the rosacea and Aczone for the breakouts. I use SKinCeuticals moisterizers - they have a line for rosacea. I wash my face with Clear Pore by Neutrogena as suggested by my doctor. SkinCeuticals has a great product named Redness Neutralizer. Everyone is different. It was also suggested that I use Mineral Make Up. I use Hourglass. Everyone is different and it has taken me a long time to learn what to do.

Re: Roasacea - can you use serums, oils, etc.?

You ladies are wonderful! You're so sweet to post these lovely replies. I do appreciate it so much.

I agree that sometimes the derms. aren't as much help as we would like them to be and they often stick too strictly to the books. I mean, we are not all the same. And as many of you have pointed out here, we all have different triggers, different types, and different things will work better on us than others.

I guess, although it is terribly frustrating, trial and error, and patience --- a lot of patience --- are what is needed!!!

I feel like I want to try everything and anything but I know I can't and it would be pointless any way, as I feel to jumble a bunch of stuff together at one time would be a big, big mistake!

Any how, I just want to thank you each and every one for the kind replies, the informative replies, and most of all --- the support!
