I have never been a red fan for myself at any age, but if you like it and feel good in it, wear it! Enjoy!!!

Too dark, too bright is too harsh and will age you. Look for reds that are almost berry or almost coral. Dilute the red with a top color or lip gloss to tone it down. It can be pretty if done right but proceed with caution. The bright reds only look good on a flawless, smooth face.
I somewhat agree. Certain people have coloring that is more suited to wear red. I'm one of them, but I tone mine way, way down.
If you apply with a brush, you can get that wash of red that is not going to be garish or harsh.
If you're not on stage, ladies, you need not wear strong lips, or strong anything for that matter.

I have read many places that you look younger with a not so bright lip color. I feel that it is true but if it looks good on you go for it!!!! For myself I like nice lighter lip color.
Yes I feel at age 91 or even 80 they should do what they want

Your coloring is so right.
Also, if your lips are really thin, it's not a good look. My cousin wears it and she is 59, but it is the first thing you see when she enters a room or takes a pix. Sometimes, it just doesn't work.

I am 65 and usually wear a shades of pink but do wear red lipstick when I am wearing a red top. I try for a softer shade of red and I think it looks good. I have tried different nudes to wear with red clothing but look sick without more color on my lips.

I have to agree with those who say that any age can wear red. It's finding the right shade of red which we all do anyway for the purpose of wearing one which looks flattering with our hair and skin color. Texture is also a key. A heavy opaque red might feel like too much color for someone who isn't totally confident in wearing the color, so stick with sheer formula lipsticks. If you like glosses, you can also opt for a red lipgloss.
My lips are full and my mouth is wide, so even as a young woman red lipstick could easily slip over to clown makeup on me. A little trick I often employ to give my lips a hint of red is to apply a bit of red lipgloss to my usual nude or brownish lipstick shade. I also own some sheer red lipsticks -- which I can wear solo without looking clownish. My favorite are Lipstick Queen's Medieval and Saint Rouge. Those may or may not be the appropriate tones of red for others, but they work for me (caramel brown complexion).

Ivana Trump wore red lipstick for many years. When she switched to a light pink lipstick she looked years younger. Also remember that if you have thin lips any dark color will make them look even thinner.

I, too, usually wear pink but wear red with a red top. I am very light and like color on my lips. I never wear a nude lip.
