Hey everyone, I guess they changed the forum around and deleted all the old messages.

So my hair is pretty wavy and I'm sporting an undercut, buzzed on the sides and longer on the top. I was a user of accutane for a year when I was 17 and have suffered from dry and fragile hair ever since then. I recently tried WEN Tea Tree and Sweet Almond Mint CC along with the TT Moist. The products unfortunately just dried my hair out even more than before. I tried several different ways of using it in the shower and none of them worked for me unfortuantely. I returned them last Thursday the 11th (also wondering how long it'll take for them to give me the refund.)

I tried DevaCare's line and really enjoyed it but still found it to be a little drying. Now, I think I have found the product that works best for me. It's called Purely Perfect Cleansing Creme and it was created by the same guy who created Bumble and Bumble. It doesn't have any silicones in it which  is why I think it works better for me than WEN. It's also a little more expensive, but you use one pump instead of 16-32 for WEN.

I just wanted to let you all know in case someone had the same issues that I had with WEN.

Re: RE: WEN advice for a guy

I'm glad you found something that works for you.

My hair is also very dry and I can't use Sweet Almond Mint or Tea Tree alone without  getting dry hair. Fig is the most moisturizing formula and the one I won't be without.

Re: RE: WEN advice for a guy

Thanks for the update Cooper89. I'm glad you found something that works for you. So sorry Wen didn't work out for you. Hey, maybe you could still use the oils, RTM, or other products in the Wen line. I heard that Chaz may be releasing a new Wen Men styling creme soon and possibly Wen Men oil. Just a thought... Have a great day!!

Hi Cooper..

I had some questions about Accutane. My husband always wanted to try it but I convinced him not to due to all the side effects. He responds very well to acne medication so I believe he should not risk it.

So the effects of accutane never go away? Is having dry hair the only side effect that has lingered? I just want to get the facts from someone who actually used it in case my husband brings it up again. Thanks !!

Re: RE: WEN advice for a guy

NycVixen, if he respods well to acne medication then I would just suggest for him to use that. I tried all the acne medications under the sun and when I was 16/17, I finally decided to get on accutane. My mom is a nurse and was skeptical about it, but I decided why not? I honestly kind of regret going on it, I still get some acne, nothing deep or too noticeable to others. I currently use Tazorac cream which is very good at drying up anything. He may want to give that a try, it's prescription only so he'll have to go see a derm.

I regret going on accutane my skin and hair has been so dry ever since going on it. It is especially difficult in the New York winters I have. Takes a major toll on my skin, hair, and eyes. Also, when I was on accutane, everywhere on your body gets extremely dry... everywhere. I woke up several times with nosebleeds and I would go through a thing of aquaphor about twice a week.

My skin and hair is still dry after being off the medication for several years (22 now.) My skin felt like paper throughout the entire time I was on it. I light switch in my house managed to cut my arm and I have a scar from it haha. The lingering side effects is just having dry skin and hair mostly, expecially lips.

Again, this is just my experience, I know some people who go on it and notice no changes at all.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask. I'm happy to help.
