I finally got tired of coloring my own hair and only recently started to get it done at the salon. I get it down every 8 weeks which is really stretching it by two weeks. Anyway the woman that colors my hair is going away for a month and it will be 10 weeks between colorings. I bought Root Rescue, which I have never used before. I get that it is only made for doing your roots, hairline, and temples. I was wondering how long does the color last, 2 weeks, more? Also does it cover the gray well, and is it easy to use?

I use Clairol Root Touch Up. I use this instead of going to the salon (cost too much) and I only do a full color once a year. The root touch up, for me, last 3 weeks. I prefer to use this instead of regular haircoloring as it does not appear to smell as strong and does not appear to be harsh on my hair. I have lots of gray and this seems to do a really good job for my 51 year old hair!!!!

I love Clariol Root Cover Up - adds on some three weeks from my original salon color. Meaning I go back every 7 to 8 weeks instead of 4 to 5 weeks.

Gee, the consensus is I should have bought Clairol instead of Loreal! Maybe next time!

Can't you see her before she goes, and just not "stretch" this time? Or is she gone already?

@Jordan2 I've used both. It does cover grays well. I found it to be easy to use and it lasted at least 3 weeks. I think you'll be happy.

Jordan, my experience with Clariol root touch up was not good. I have very stubborn grey hairs on temple, hairline. Also, with Clairol you can't wash your hair after appling and letting the dye set for the suggested time. Hate that!!!
I switched to L'Oreal Root Rescue and have had great results. Covers my stubborn greys, and the directions say to wash your hair after set amount of time, 10 minutes. Love! It lasts 2-3 weeks. But it's so much easier than running to the salon, etc. Good product. Try it!

I use the root touch up too. Not sure what I will buy this time. I was using clairol nice and easy color but I thought maybe the formula had changed because my hair kept feeling dryer and dryer. I remember someone else commenting that they thought Clairol had changed the formula. Anyway, so a few weeks ago I tried Loreal and I was really upset because while it was very hyrdating I felt like the color came out too dark. But now it has lightened back up. It was probably just my perception as only 1 person even seems to have noticed the color changed and they said they liked it! Oh well, anyway, I was wondering whether the root touch up would work as well with other products or if I need to go with a Loreal product.
