Re: Questioning the use of primer.

I wear primer but I skip the sunscreen since I'm a cave dweller. My face is extraordinarily dry. To get any foundation to look good on this dry complexion calls for four hydrating products, a light moisturizer and my Hourglass primer.  I don't have any flakiness or visible pores to fill in. I am just smoothing the canvas for what's to come. I will use it for as long as I can afford it.  If it didn't make it difference, I wouldn't use it

Re: Questioning the use of primer.

I've been wearing primer for years and wouldn't be without it when applying foundation.

What I would like to know is it primer then sunscreen or sunscreen then primer?

Re: Questioning the use of primer.

Every article I've seen says sunscreen before primer.

Re: Questioning the use of primer.

I like to use it on my forehead, cheeks and nose. That's where I have the most visible pores. Right now I am using the elf hydro grip and really don't like the stickiness. So I am going to try the rms or doll 10 smooth assist. Anyone tried either of those?

Yes, today I tried your method of only applying primer on the center of my face on top of my moisturizer. Looked great. Thanks

I use primer to camouflage my larger pores.  They're not as large as they used to be, but still visible.  So, no, not getting off the primer bandwagon.  However, I'm not convinced eyeshadow primer does much except the ones specifically for glitter.  Those work.

Same here.  I have large pores (though they seem smaller now) but the primer blurs them a bit and foundation looks better

Re: Questioning the use of primer.

I have a couple of primers but I just keep forgetting to use them.  When I use foundation, my skin doesn't look that smooth any more and I thought a primer would help with this.  I don't like a lot of steps and I don't like to glop a lot of things on my face, so maybe my forgetting is "accidentally on purpose"!!!  Anyway, I hear some say that they mix primer and foundation together and then apply?  Does this really work???

@Bellini13  Primer is always the last step before foundation.

Re: Questioning the use of primer.

I use BE powder foundation.  It just looks better over primer, even though I think they are mostly just silicone.  I also like Bobbi Brown's Face Base.  I found a sample in my drawer and don't even know where I got it.
