About 6 months ago my eyelids were becoming very sensitive to eye creams and even eczema on them. I only use RoC Hydrate and Plump eye cream , so far no problems. My lips are driving me crazy! They are aging and getting lines on the lips. When I used lipsticks or certain glosses they burned my lips. I have two medicines from the dermatologist but I so miss using lipsticks and glosses as I’m a makeupaholic and it just finishes the look plus I feel naked without it. Any thoughts out there?

Re: Really reactive skin-help!

What about a tinted lip balm?  Burt's Bees makes some nice ones but there are others out there.

@Allthingsgirly67 I agree, you could try some natural tinted lip balms.  Burt's bees has some nice colors.  I particular like the farmhouse fresh lip products.  I like the orange and the strawberry mood fruit lip therapy products.  These are NOT very pigmented.  Just a light tint and very moisturizing.  They have other more pigmented versions tho, you could check out.  Plus they have lip glosses and oils.  Maybe you'll find something you like Smiley Happy

Re: Really reactive skin-help!

@Allthingsgirly67 So you have the problem with your eye lids under control, now?

As far as your lips, so many things can cause problems with my lips.

Whitening toothpastes. Some lip balm, lip colors. Skin care.

Any of those things can cause an issue with my lips. I just have to pay attention to see which product it is.

You have to stop using all of the things. Add one thing at a time that you think is likely to be the problem.

1. Whitening toothpaste/mouthwash

2. Lip color-I just threw away a Pat McGrath Lipstick that I realized left my lips burning & dry after I wore it.

3. Skin Care-Use your skin care. If you suspect that it is causing an issue, wash your lips after you apply it & hope that takes care of it.

Re: Really reactive skin-help!

I bought toothpaste that was SLS free. Ironically I can use retinol and my skin is perfectly fine no irritation whatsoever, go figure!

Re: Really reactive skin-help!

You may be reacting to the mint flavoring in toothpaste and mouthwash. It triggers my acid reflux and makes my mouth burn. Finding a toothpaste without mint is difficult but worth the effort. Your lips will stop burning if mint is the irritant.

Re: Really reactive skin-help!

The one I’m currently using by Burt’s Bees has natural mint. I can’t seem to find any toothpaste that is free from flavoring.

@Allthingsgirly67 , I wonder if you have an eyelid condition known as blepharitis?  It is a skin condition causing inflammation of the eyelids.  Google for definition and treatment.

@Allthingsgirly67   I would change to a hypoallergenic lipstick like Clinique or a lip pencil in a shade you like with an all  "natural" lip balm on top. The lines above the lips are just a fact of life. You may want to try to extend your natural lip balm or an oil on them at night.

Do use the meds from your dermatologist. This will clear the irritation so lipstick can be your buddy again.
