@Mimichic wrote:I just got blonde highlights and want to keep them brass free. Has anyone had great results with a specific purple shampoo? I’ve been looking online but can’t decide. I’m looking for something that removes the brass but doesn’t dry my hair out severely.
Any recommendations are appreciated. Thanks.
TIGI Bed Head Dumb Blonde Purple Toning Shampoo.

Thanks for all the suggestions. If one doesn’t work, I have plenty of options to try.

I like Aveda Blue Malva Shampoo a lot, but it's spendy since it seems to only come in big pump bottle. I've also tried Shikai Color Reflect Platinum Shampoo , which I found at Sprouts & it's good, too.

You've mentioned previously that you love Nick, why not try there?

@Mimichic The two shampoos I use are Shikai and Aveda's Blue Malva.

I have been letting my hair go natural grey for a year. The two products that helped ease the transition were Clairol Shimmer Lights and LOreal Paris EverPure Shampoo.
Both hair products were purple in color. To get a more intense color, I left the shampoo in for about 15 minutes. You may not want to use the purple shampoo for every hair washing. Perhaps every other hair washing. This works for my hair.

One line that I have tried that was recommended on The Small Things Beauty Blog was Pravana. Can be purchased at Ulta. They have the purple shampoo/conditioner to help stop the brassiness. But they also have The Perfect Blonde Mask. A bit expensive ($22) but one can use the 20% off coupon when Ulta runs one. Anyway, this masque is used just once a week. You leave it on for about five minutes and then rinse it out. Some of the recommendations from those who have used it say they leave it on for 10 minutes or more. Anyway, it's like a blue conditioning treatment to stop brassiness. The reviews are pretty good.

I used Jhirmak Purple until my neighborhood supermarket stopped carrying it. Switched to Clairol Shimmer Lights about 2 years ago. Got same results from both of these shampoos: sparkle and shine and no yellow in my silver hair. I also recommend that you do not use a purple shampoo every time you shampoo -- maybe every 3rd or 4th time. I've heard if you use a purple shampoo every time you shampoo, your hair will develop a purple-ish cast. I've never had that problem myself, but I only use Shimmer Lights every 4th shampoo.
