I use Tarte primer. I really like it. I bought it at Ulta.

@River Songwrote:I've never had much luck with primers and I think it's because I live in a hot, humid climate and start to sweat as soon as I step outside. Whatever makeup I have on liquifies and slides off. No makeup survives sweating in s. Florida during the summer.
Most of the newer liquid foundations are water and silicone mixtures and have a built-in primer. But, some of the older ones, like the original liquid L'Oreal True Match, really needs a primer first so it doesn't settle into pores and wrinkles.
Youtuber Angie w/ Hot n Flashy has done reviews and wear tests on many of the most popular primers so you might want to view her videos to narrow down the type of primer you need with your makeup before you purchase one.
@River Song, just wanted to tell you that I appreciate your sig line.

If you have perfect skin it wouldn’t make a difference.
Primer smooths imperfections such as scars, pores. Acne etc. Foundation goes on better.
I like Dhc Velvet Skin Coat an excellent product, lasts forever but is pricey.

I think they do work, I've not purchased any new ones lately..I use and like BM's Complexion Rescue, I ended up purchasing 3 shades until I got correct shades for change of seasons.. and sometimes mix them some so not wasting it.
I also like Benefit's, Hangover, but don't use it regularly. I did use and like Laura Geller's primer many years ago and I did like them.

primer is an absolute must for me prior to foundation. i usually do a double primer.......the smashbox photo finish primer and the smashbox primer water spray. i think that the photo finish may have been one of the first around on the makeup scene and it is still a standout.

Yes, primer does help me. Through trial and errors I found a great one made by Benefit called Pore fessional. It's light, minimizes pores and helps makeup look smoother. Just let this set a couple of minutes. I have tried other primers that when I went to put on my base makeup, it looked like I had used a pencil eraser, it just beaded up.
I can't be without this stuff. I don't remember if I got it at the Q or Hsn. Hope this helps. PS this worked better for me coverage and pore wise than Laura Geller's spackle. The spackle would be my 2nd choice.

Using a primer might make a big difference in the overall finish of one's foundation but I find it's one more step plus drying time and when I'm getting ready for work in the morning, I need to keep it simple and quick.

Yes, Primer first before foundation so the foundation clings to the primer & doesn’t settle into the fine lines of your face. A few drops is all you need across your cheeks, chin & nose prior the foundation. While primer is drying, I might be doing my eyes.
I use the silicone based Lancôme La Base Pro.

A big fan of Laura Mercier.

I’ve tried a few primers and since my cheeks are dry I like Laura Geller’s champagne primer. My Wander beauty foundation which ,to me is perfect for dry/ normal skin goes on flawlessly.
I don’t care for Smashbox, it I really liked the first IT cosmetics primer. I just didn’t like the price.
