Re: Please Help me in Curling my Hair!

The Redken Pillow Proof is a very good product.  I have medium length hair and live in Florida and the way my hair looks depends on the weather.  Pillow Proof is a good heat protectant and gives your hair shine.

Re: Please Help me in Curling my Hair!

I have curl resistent hair too.  It is super fine, super thick and super straight.  I find that I need to use either hot rollers or a curling iron.  I tried the no heat curls but my hair just went in all directions instead of nice curls.  It is because my hair is fine, so it tends to friz with smaller curls.  I use a mouse or setting spray on each section before I put it in the roller or iron.  I then let the hot rollers cool completely, but I can't use regular rollers because they don't get hot enough to make the straight hair change shape.  I use Calista's hot rollers because they heat once off the base so I get twenty solid minutes of heat and then they cool.  I sometimes use the blow dryer on cold and low fan speed to set them.  I give an extra spray of setting spray once out and cool dryer again to let the fully cool.  Then I style.

When I use a curling iron, once I get the curl, I use bobby pins to roll the curl back up and pin it to cool in that curve.  This really helps it to set.

Because I have super fine, super thick, straight hair....I won't get those Cali girl waves or beachy curls or anything like that.  In the 80s when I got a perm, she had to use the tight curlers just to get a perm because it would fall out in 6-8 weeks or so and just relax as it got older.  Since I have so much hair, it too hours to get a perm, 4-6 depending upon how long it was, no longer than just below the shoulders so not long hair.  She did two sets of solution and a long setting time.  I was a child/teeenager so time wasn't a concept I cared about.

This is the hair we have been given and must deal with.  Curly haired people want straight hair and straight hair people want curly hair.  This is life.
