Re: Planning for Skinn Anniversary Shows - Dermappeal Reviews?

On 7/16/2014 Chi-town girl said: I'm a raving fan of Skinn DermAppeal-the most effective product that I have used to date. And I think the overall pricing for Skinn products is excellent. However, I'm always keen to try new products, and I will be trying the ASDM product in the near future. If your skin is not overly sensitive nor adverse to the menthol, you should try DermAppeal, esp if there is a good kit that includes it. If you have the budget, try both :-)

They usually have sales every holiday, so you may want to order during their Labor day sale. Please let us know on one of the ASDM threads what you think:-)

Re: Planning for Skinn Anniversary Shows - Dermappeal Reviews?

I love DermaPeel and I think my skin is quite sensitive. But sensitivity is pretty individual, I think.

I, like tototwo, cannot use it 3 times a week, though. I have tried that and my skin gets kind of P.O.'d ({#emotions_dlg.laugh})

I love to use his masks more often than the peel.

The ASDM sounds interesting. I think I'd like to try that one.

Re: Planning for Skinn Anniversary Shows - Dermappeal Reviews?

Thank you for your responses. After reading these, I do think that Dermappeal is not the best choice for me and appreciate the suggestions. I'm very interested in the Skinn products that have been successful for you. Other than the Collagenesis kit, I do have the kit with the Crease Release Eye Serum and Reorganize Night Eye Balm. I find the eye serum too rich for day use and have been layering these at night on top of the Collagenesis eye serum. Is that how you are using this? I'd love other ideas of items I should watch for on the upcoming shows. Has anyone who already has lines around the lips had any success with any of the lip products?

Re: Planning for Skinn Anniversary Shows - Dermappeal Reviews?

The Reorganize Night Eye Balm is my favorite (and only) product in Skinn's line that I like and use. I keep it on my night stand and use around my eyes with whatever other product (non-Skinn) I'm using. I've tried many of his products and honestly never felt they were all that special for my skin's needs. I stopped using Dermappeal or any of the day and night creams.

I haven't tried the lip products so I'm sorry I can't help you there. I use a sugar scrub.. but I don't have the horizontal lines around my mouth.. rather dry lips in winter.

His cleansers were fine, but I have other favorites.

As likeable as DJ is, there's a bit of a snake oil salesman about him. JMO. His gizmo that he demonstrates with an onion to penetrate dye into the onion as it would product into the skin doesn't really work that way at all. I bought into it and it was broken, it literally went dead within a little over a month. I've heard others say the same. Someone here did their own experiment, and it didn't penetrate the onion in the least.

If I watch Skinn shows, it's online for entertainment value alone. But again, I do use the eye balm.

Re: Planning for Skinn Anniversary Shows - Dermappeal Reviews?

I have sensitive skin and am 60 years old and LOVE the Dermappeal. I use it weekly and have no problems with it. It is very rough but remember, you don't rub it on like you are sanding some wood!! A light touch is all that is needed. I love the smell and the feel afterwards.

I gave my 74 year old aunt who is very fair complected and prone to break-outs a new jar of Dermappeal I'd purchased for myself (I stick to AHA and BHA now) and she loves it too.

Re: Planning for Skinn Anniversary Shows - Dermappeal Reviews?

My microdermabrasion of choice used to be Philosophy's 2 part scrub, but the price has gone up too much for me, so I no longer use it. I really did like that stuff.

SKINN'S is rather abrasive, and the smell burns my eyes. If you have sensitive skin this one might be to rough.

I have to agree about the chemical rather than physical exfoliation. Also, if I am not mistaken, BHA will exfoliate or clean out deeper into pores than a physical, i.e. surface, exfoliation. Physical can be harsh on the skin's surface even if you're not really aware of it.

Dermappeal is a great exfoliator, but it does have that overwhelming peppermint smell, it feels sometimes like it is getting in to my lungs and making it harder to breathe, it is that strong.
