@manny2 Here goes...no boos, please: I think it's OK in theatrical settings, on celebrities, etc. Once we reach a "certain age", our lip lines are more visible, darker or very bright shades seem to emphasize the loss of volume in our lips. I really don't like to see any one part of the face taking over...Balance is my thing: a defined brow, neutral blush and a lip color close to the shade of your *******les...your perfect nude lip color...that's what Bobbi taught us.

@Franklinbell My best suggestion is to determine your skintone first. Tay Tay seems to be cool undertones and may gravitate to a blue tone red while warm skins tend to look better in a red with an orange base.
I like to persoanlly tone it down and use a reddish pink lip lip liner all oveer to prevent bleeding and a sheer red gloss.
MAC Ruby Woo is a universally flattering red that I keep in my drawer and in my kit.
I am not a fan of the red lip on Taylor. I love it on Gwen Stefani. She has the coloring to pull it off. I think it ages Taylor.
What do you think @Shanus you are the pro here.

There should be no boos everybody is entitled to their opinion. I think it’s the balance on Taylor that is off.
I love nude lips. In fact, maybe you can help me find a good one @Shanus . I want a nude that is more beigey, brown. Not light and not too dark.

@manny2 Can you share some details re: your coloring, hair, eyes, skintone?
My personal nudes are more pinky/beige than brown. MAC Syrup and MAC Brave. I like Chanel Mademoiselle if you want to really splurge.

Taylor Swift needs to ditch the red lipstick. She looks much better with a more neutral shade. The red isn't attractive at all.
Gwen Stefani, however, can wear the red lipstick as it suits her. Difficult to explain why one celebrity looks good and the other doesn't. Maybe it depends on their overall style.

I wear red every once in a while. Its a fire engine red, I forget the name of the color but its by Urban Decay. It does not show my lip lines, but I do have a coral orangy lipstick by Clinique and it does show my lip lines as Shanus says in her post. I dont wear it much at all.
I say wear what color you like and feel good in.

I have medium brown hair and eyes, with a light olive complexion. I will check out the colors you posted. @Shanus
I love the pinky brown nudes, but I can’t go too pink. My complexion is olive, but it has a yellow undertone. At least to me it does lol! @Shanus

I use City Lips in clear while doing my makeup. Yes, a bit of a sting, but it plumps enough to eliminate lines and does add hydration before I blot and apply lip color for the day.

from the Clinique Pop Reds collection : Red Carpet
a clear bright neutral red with a slightly moist finish
I only wear it when I'm singing with my vocal group, we all have to wear a red lip when we perform

@ Shanus, AMEN!!!Not impressed with Trev's action when coach removed him from game. Came to coach and coach said NO, Sit down Trev threw his helmet on ground. He isn't as imp. as he thinks. Now that Swift teaches everyone hot to iss boyfriend it is time to MOVE ON!!

I wore red lips in my youth. I stay away from brights now because I always think of Bette Davis in "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?" when women (me) of a certain age wear "Look at me" red lipstick. Taylor Swift? She is in her 30's.
My opinion only, others can wear it, buy it and enjoy. For myself, a definite NO!
