I have a question...that split in your thumbnail, did you, in the past, smash your thumb really bad?  I also have a split thumbnail that started after I smashed my thumb in a car door. It turned black and I lost the nail. But when it grew back it was split and never was normal again.

I've heard that smashing a nail could cause it to split but I didn't have that happen, at least it wasn't bad enough to lose the nail.   So I guess that bamboo silica is not a fix for that?  I had high hopes.  There was a time shortly after I got the split that it grew out normal but I hit the nail  on something & it split again never to be the same again.  I just have to keep it short now,  well moisturized & can't use nail polish because it is so drying.
