OP: I bought this set the day it went on sale. Last week, I checked on the site and it was gone... it was gone for awhile according to the Beauty Hotline. They're pulling this not from their warehouse now but from the few stores (3 she told me) that carry this. I would have bought a second set but she said the warehouse won't have them again until after the sale and if it isn't on the site, they can't sell it.

Now, here's the thing: MANY MANY MANY times the site will not have an item BUT a store will. It's weird how their inventory system works since the site pulls the item from a store location so if a store has it, it should be up there. BUT it isn't. I would call the STORES and ask if they have them in stock and have them do a send with no shipping fee. Only one time have I not been able to find an item this way.

Good luck!!!

Happened to me, sold out on line but the CS rep searched the stores for me and found the item I wanted in Seattle. A few days later I had it. I was really impressed with CS.

I placed my Nordstrom order on July 21st so I could get the items I wanted.  One of them was a pair of grey SoftWalk booties in 8-1/2N.  I got updates when the items shipped and when they should arrive.  I opened the box that should have contained my booties.  Imagine my surprise when a pair of $695 suede Jimmy Choo shoes was what I found.  No packing list or invoice was enclosed with the shoes.  By that time, my grey booties which were online only had sold out in my size.  I called Customer Service and told them what had happened.  Turned out the the customer who ordered the Jimmy Choo's had their order cancelled because the shoes were no longer available!  I have never heard of having an order cancelled like that.  Quite the mix-up which I have never experienced with Nordstrom before.  I found the grey booties in my size at Amazon at the same price that Nordstrom offered so all was not lost.  I did receive the other three items that I ordered.

I would definitely call CS manager and mention that on a beauty forum to which you regularly post, other posters suggested this treatment was highly unlike Nordies and every poster told you they wee sure Nordies would make it right!

That at should fix it, but if not, call the closest store, ask for the manager of the Cosmetics. Repeat the above story. If no satisfaction, tell them you are posting your story on all the beauty forums!😬

Don't know what size you were looking at, but you might try Amazon.  Prices are much better than Nordstroms.  It's too bad if you got a poor CS person.  Perhaps just calling again you would have gotten someone more willing to help.
