@AngelPuppy1  Do you have a friend (whose makeup looks good) that could go to a store with you and help you find a shade?

I ended up getting some sample cards in the mail....either from Sephora or Ulta....and asked a granddaughter for help when she came to visit.

I have been using LG for a long time and it's been about the best but I'm not totally satisfied with it either.  I imagine the problem is with me and how I prep and apply.  Any how, I try different things to try and find something I like better.

No, they are either living far away from me, still work and are too busy, don't wear makeup at all or have totally different coloring than me and have no interest in doing this.

Thank you all for the good tips and advice!  I have jotted down things and made notes.  I will get to the bottom of this eventually!  I appreciate all your posts and help!!

@AngelPuppy1 Can you tell us what products & colors that you have tried?

What you don't like about that one?

Maybe swatch the closest ones on your arm so that we can see what is going on?

It can be very frustrating & confusing, but we may be able to help.

I am fairly good at matching skin to foundation, but I bought 3 different shades of my Fenty Pro Filt'r Powder Foundation before I found the right shade.

I don't wear foundation since I prefer not to deal with matching the colors. I wear tinted moisturizer or skin tint and primer which isn't difficult to match. It gives light coverage and has a natural look. That with bronzer or highlighter and setting spray is enough for me.

I have a basket full -- it would be too tedious to list them all!  I have cover girl, physician formula, neutrogina, elf, maybelline, almay, revlon, boots --- you name it!

Re: O.k. -- I think I need help with foundation advice -- I'm not doing so good on my own....

I hope you can find the right color & shade for your skin tone.  It can be difficult and tricky.  I have a light/medium olive skin tone with a cool undertone.

For years I used the Bare Minerals original powdered mineral foundation in medium beige.  It was just okay.

Then several years ago I went into Macys in NYC (their cosmetics department is really overwhelming....it's huge and they have a large counter of almost every brand you can imagine!) with a friend who insisted I try a certain Clinique foundation which also has a concealer build into it.

The sales associate found the perfect shade for me and even gave me generous samples to take home and try in different lighting situations of a few shades.

I found the perfect color for me and  I have been using it ever since.  It's called Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation & Concealer.  It offers at least 30 shades.

You have gotten some good recommendations.  I hope something works for you.
