Now Let's Shoot Straight!

[ Edited ]

Thanks to generous suggestions from this forum,  I've perfected the art of bringing out the best of my curls.  However, I'd love the ability to wear it straight. too.  I'm jonesing for a haircut like my old one which is basically a slightly tapered long bob-- like in my icon pic.

Is there any product out there that helps with the tedious task of blow drying in sections (which takes forever)  coupled with  the evil flat iron, which I'm trying to only use minimally. If i can get a good straight blowout the first day it usually stays that way unless it's raining or high humidity.

I'm starting to think there isn't such a beast that truly helps keep curls at bay, but any product suggestions are so welcome.  I can use some help taming this rebellious & confused hair.

Also, what about Wen formulas?  I swear SAM brings out the curls in my hair, where 613 is much better and helps when straightening.  Nosing around the Wen offerings it would be nice to try some seasonals.  But which one/s?   Anyone in the same boat who can help?

My hair isn't all that fine, but not course either according to my stylist.   It's just thick which takes forever to dry..  I don't have an oily scalp so I can slide by for 3-4 days before it's time to cleanse.   Boy, in theory that sounds gross... yet it works for me.   2nd & 3rd are my 'best hair" days.  The first day after cleansing ... um... not so much.

ETA:  I don't want to go the professional route of staightening if at all possible.

Sorry, I've got nothing for you. I never wear my hair straight because it's too much time and effort. I've never found a way that doesn't require heat tools and a lot of time  and effort without a salon treatment. Fighting my curls is just not worth the effort. I'd rather spend an extra 30-60 minutes sleeping than straightening my hair.

Re: Now Let's Shoot Straight!

I know I go against all the rules of hair styling, but I don't do that whole sectioning, tedious blow-dry with a brush thing.  I use only my fingers to separate the hair, move the dryer all over and blow it dry as quickly as possible.  Then I do all of the stying with the Chi flat iron.  I pull the iron through at a pretty quick pace - much more quickly than they do in the product demos - to minimize contact with the heat source.  It works for me.

A hair dryer like the Conair Infiniti one used on damp, not soaking wet hair can do a pretty good job of drying and straightening hair so that you can either skip or minimize the use of a flat iron.. The attachment can be taken on or off. It's a comb attachment so you aren't havint to use a round brush and a hair dryer at the same time. It also cuts down on arm fatigue from wielding both at the same time.
