I cannot imagine a manicure lasting 6 weeks. I was getting gel manicures a couple of times recently, but had them done every two weeks. Otherwise, you could see where the nail was growing out. Not a good look, in my opinion. In may case, if I waited six weeks, the polish itself would be almost half way up my nail!

ITA!
It kinda/sorta drives me nuts when I see hosts present items...especially jewelry...with nails needing a fill-in or, at the very least, polish to deguise the space.

This. Even if my polish lasts two weeks, the gap between the color and my cuticle starts driving me crazy and I can't wait to change it.

I cannot imagine any manicure lasting 6 weeks as in that amount of time your nail would be grown half way up your nail bed.
I had a few Shellac manicures when they first became popular about 4 years ago. They did dry my nails terribly.

I love the CND Shellac Manicure too. You do not have to be careful with your nails, no endless drying, does not damage your nails, looks great for a full two weeks, maybe less if you use a dark color that contrasts starkly with your new nail growth. Mixing colors is great fun. My favorite color is Bare Chemise. For Spring I am wearing one coat of Strawberry Smoothie (a satin finished pale cool pink) topped with one coat of of Bare Chemise (a pale peaches and cream nude) and a top coat.the effect is a luminous pale pink. i use their solar cuticle oil as well. My nails have never looked better and been less trouble free. For summer i may try Frosted Coral. Stick with a color close to your natural nails and skin tone and you will be very happy with CND...

LipstickDiva is in the same situation I'm in. My nails grow way too fast for six weeks between appts. Back when I had acrylic nails my appts were 2 weeks apart. No matter how great that manicure looks, the new growth will completely ruin the effect. Just check out some of the TV hosts.

@Krimpette @depglass Gel manicures are designed to be removed after around 2 weeks. The longer they remain on, the more difficult removal becomes. This increases the risk of damage to the nail. Acrylic (powder mixed with liquid) is designed to remain on the nail longer and be "filled" as the nail grows out.

@muttmom Unfortunately, what is termed nail dryness is often actually surface damage to the nail caused by improper techniques. True dryness would reverse itself after brief exposure to water.
