@doglover3  Nice!  Certainly sounds like you had a really fun experience at your Ulta.  I have a brand new Ulta about 10 minutes from my house and yeah, I've been there a couple of times.  The first time I went for just a looksey.  I was overwhelmed at how huge the store is and how many products they have.  No one asked me if I needed or wanted help with anyting.  Actually, it didn't at all appear they had many employees at all which also surprised me.

I felt complelled to buy something so I picked up a new mascara which is not a maybelline which is what I always wear.  I really like what I bought.

I walked through the entire store and found many of the PTR products I use which really excited me b/c I now do not need to get them just at qvc for higher prices with tax & s/h.

The 2nd time I went I was looking for a new LG brush.  One girl asked me I needed help, I said no but then realized I really did b/c there are a ton of LG brushes.  A foundation to apply BE mineral found is what I was looking for.  I found the one I wanted but needed to ask help to find it among the many they have.  Girl was very nice to assist but did not press me for anything else.

I'd love a makeover!  I wonder if I went and asked if they'd give me one and help me pick out products (especially a new foundation other than a loose powder like BE) that looks better for me.  I've used BE mineral powder for YEARS.  Wonder what Ulta girls would suggest for me.

I have one question for you Ms DogLover, may I ask your age?  I'm 62 soon to be 63 in April.  your girl said to stop using the powder found b/c it ages you.  Now I'm really wondering the same for me.

Thanks so much for your wonderful trip, experience and all you learned!

close to  your age with very dry and somewhat sensitive

I usually go at off times, later in the evening about 45 to 60 minutes before closing and ours isn't very busy at those times.

In that area no one was there and these 2 clerks were stocking and checking on stuff when one saw I looked lost and offered to help. When I told her what I was looking for is when she looked at me and asked if I would like a makeover and did I have a particular brand I am faithful too which I said no since I really am not.

You could always ask and say you want to try a new foundation and no idea what to get and could they do a makeover for you, am sure they would be happy to.

ours is also very large, get lost in there. It is the only one in our re a so glad it is so nice.

I was at Ulta last week and on the sales reps recommendation, I purchased Stila Huge Extreme Mascara.  It's a thickening mascara and I must say I like it very much.  I also bought the Mally BB cream in light/medium here at Q, a few weeks ago, and I like that very much.

I have to add something I forgot. The clerk said in her opinion my best lip product would be Clinique in almost pink but they don't have that there. She said this is her go to lip stick on most days. She said it is a very soft natural moisturizing pink and wish they carried it there but they don't.

So many have the Clinique black honey which I did try but was too dark for me and she agreed, not a smart choice for my coloring.

I will check at a local dept. store that carries clinique and see if they have the almost pink shade she was talking about. I  like a soft natural pink so will check this out.

I do like the NYX pink the other clerk suggested and am wearing that today as well as the slate eye color I also got on their recommendation.
It is a chubby pencil in slate and highly saturated so have to remember to go easy. It is a dark charcoal, called slate, and seems to be nice. I put it on around 4:30 today and it is now 9:30, so far so good, same with the lipstick.

The LG eye rimz is still my favorite and go to though for top lining using her rimz small brush which I got here at QVC for $12, love it.

I also should say as much as I like the Mally defender bb for foundation I also like the L'Oreal Tru match lumi in 3n so, is a toss up and all depends on what you prefer. For me, these are my 2 favorites but then the lumi may not be for those with oily skin but great for those of us with dry skin or normal to dry.

It isn't shiny so don't be afraid of that and is very moisturizing as is the Mally defender bb so, all up to what you prefer.

@doglover3  Thanks much for getting back with me, I really appeciate you sharing your experience at Ultam what you tried, how you liked everything esp'ly the info on foundations.  I did go back (here) and read reviews on Mally's BB - sounds like many ladies really like this product.  Your suggestion on the OTC L'Oreal Tru match is good to know as well.  My skin tends to be dry too but no sensitivities.

I just posted on another thread that I really can't tell the difference on my face between the Mally defender bb in light/medium and the L'Oreal tru match lumi in 3n.

I put one on each side to make sure, don't really see any difference so, take a look at this L'oreal if you need foundation. Get it someplace you can return just in case you pick up the wrong color.

Target takes returns as do most drug stores but NOT Walmart, no opened cosmetics.

I was lucky first time, picked 3 n and is perfect for my complexion. I have dry skin and sometimes it is a bit sensitive and both of these work but if they look and feel the same why pay so much more?

I will pay for this Stila brow marker though, first brow product I can say I truly love.

What's funny is right after I posted to your talking about the L'Oreal Tru match, I saw a commercial on tv for it.  I chuckled a bit!  I didn't really look like a product I'd like to use though, I think it's the sponge applicator that 'holds' the product.  I'd give Mally BB more thought however.

@PINKdogWOODWhat you saw advertised last night is their new Lumi foundation -- I think it's a cushion one.

The one mentioned in this thread is the liquid Lumi that comes in a bottle with a very good pump dispenser. I bought it a couple weeks ago in the N 1-2 and was very pleasantly surprised at how good it it. BTW, it gets a top rating from Beautypedia.

@suzyQ3  Thanks for clarifying, since I'm unfamiliar with the L'oreal products, I had no idea.

What do you use to apply the one you use?

I use a brush. I put a little bit in my hand, dot it on my face, and then blend with the brush. It's not a full-coverage foundation, more light to medium, but it can be built up. I use one coat and then add a bit more to certain areas.

It's a nice satin finish with a bit of a glow, but definitely not any shimmer or glitter. It's less dewey than I was expecting, given the name.

The talk about this foundation often includes that it is a possible dupe for Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation.
