I don't get it.  Maybe mine is defective.  I bought the kit that included this with the sponge.  It's like wax!  I can't even get the sponge to pick up any product.  I thought maybe there was a thin film covering the product that I needed to remove, but there doesn't seem to be any film.  What am I doing wrong?  Doesn't matter how many times i PAT the sponge on the product......might as well be patting a candle.

Finally....someone who is having the same experience as me. I USED TO love this product, but no longer. It must be since Mally sold the company, because I have bought it twice, at $40 a pop after using it and loving it in the past. After my first repurchase that disappointed me, I though I must have gotten a "bad" one, so bought another.....same result. It's dry and wax like now, it's simply unusable. It's so disappointing when one company buys out another and changes the products that made the company worth buying in the first place!

@racada  I haven't tried the new one since she sold her company, but I liked the old one.  I feel like it's even more disappointing because there's nothing else like it on the market.  It's not like a shadow stick where you can try Bobbi Brown or Kiko or whatever other brands have shadow sticks.  Mally had a really good product with that Face Defender.

Unfortunately, it did not work for me.  It looked fine when first applied, but after an hour I looked shiny and it eventually made my makeup "break down".  I wish I would have returned it, but I waited too long, and ended up throwing it away.
