Are businesses still closed in CA due to Covid?  Everything is open in TX (that didn't end up having to close down permanently) and has been for several months.

Re: Making a Haircut Appt...1st One Since 3rd Week in Oct 2020

I went to see my hairdresser on Monday after not seeing her since the week before Thanksgiving. I escaped a bullet. She told me she contracted Covid right before the holidays. That's when my next appointment would have been but I decided not to go due to the holiday surge. Thankfully she didn't have a bad case but the salon required her to have 2 negative tests before she could come back to work.

I had her cut about 10 inches off so now I have my curly/wavy hair just hit my shoulders. I changed the color from a medium ginger to a light/medium brown. I thought about letting it go all grey but I just couldn't do it.

Whaaaat???  Apparently you have one of those hair styles that doesn't require cutting or you're letting it grow out (obviously).

I'll be 62 next month.  I can't even imagine letting my hair grow gray.  I don't know when that time will come or how I'll know "it's time".  Last time I asked my stylist, she said I was about 25% gray.  I've got little gray curly baby hairs at my temples.  The other day I pulled out some matte darkish brown eyeshadow and covered the gray Smiley Happy

Our beauticians weren't able to open their salons for about two months here. My hair grows fast and has natural curl; normally I have it cut every 4-5 weeks. During those two months, I actually trimmed it myself in order to keep my sanity (and appearance)!

Can't imagine how some of you have gone many months (or years) without having your hair cut or doing it yourself. Healthy hair needs regular trimming!

Hope everyone is able to return to a beauty shop soon. It's such a good feeling to have a shampoo and style (or blowdry)!

Well, I have not had my hair cut in a year. My hair is very long and out of control. I used to wear it short. I have been vaccinated and I am going tomorrow AM for a quick cut. My sister-in-law will cut my hair. I told her really fast and I am trying a longer style, shoulder length with bangs that sweep. We will see, I am taking a chance but will wear a mask. She is vaccinated X 1. I am vaccinated x 2.

@Shanus

Last time I tried --- key word "tried" -- to trim up my bangs, they looked really bad, so no --- I won't do that again!  That is a problem -- many times I would go for my trim and I would be emphatic about it --- just a tiny bit -- and show them what I wanted --- and then they'd start in, and I'd be 2 inches shorter!  A lot of them have their own ideas of how they think your hair should be and/or they just love to cut!  I feel unless you tell them to cut 2 inches or tell them you want them to do something different, they should stick to what you tell them!!!  I don't mind advice -- such as your hair is more damaged, could I possibly trim say, a half inch more?
