Sometimes makeup goes on a totally different color than it looks like in the container.
It is easy to put blush on with a new clean giant cotton ball. It might not be as good as a brush, but at least it would be cheap, clean and disposable.

Exactly what I was going to post. I was recently in the same situation, but when the salesperson took out her brush, I asked whether it was okay for her to use it. She said that they always use a clean brush.
As an aside, I wonder why the mention of the MA's choice of pink everything.

Not sure what her pink hair has to do with anything.

It's a good story and I'll let any counter person who wants to tell it stick to it, but the brushes can't possibly be cleaned properly after each use without being wet. The MAC brush cleaner is not a dry cleaner. It does wet the bristles. I would like to see the companies provide the small cheap brushes they put in their blush compacts to use as test brushes. They could have hundreds of them which could b cleaned in batches throughout the day, or better yet discarded. This wouldn't be a lavish expense for cosmetic companies which make billions of dollars a year as those compact brushes only cost them cents -- not dollars-- to make.
For counter testing purposes using a cotton ball or sponge to place color on the inside of your wrist (usually your lightest spot); and the top of the hand (the darkest) will give you an good idea of how a color will work on your face. I've never tested blusher or eyeshadow at a store counter any other way.

Years ago when I was applying make up for Revlon (Ultima) at Macy's Herald Square in NYC we had to use cotton pads to apply make up to people, my question is when did that change. It's just not sanitary

Did you say something?

I usually test most cosmetics on my hand, even foundation.

A few years at Macy's Benefit counter I had some make-up applied. When she finished I realize she did tightlining on my eyes (which I don't even do) and used a pencil that was used on others. Was too late to do anything about it. Didn't think it was sanitary though.

yet you all eat at restaurants and accept service from wait staff who may or may not use proper sanitary precautions while serving food coming from a kitchen that would probably make you keel over if you ever when into it.
I'll take the used brush any day....didn't know cheeks had so much bacteria on them...now if it were a lip brush or eye brush, that's a little different.
Let's not be so germaphobic.

All of this. OP, you say she uses the brush on every lady there, but you don't say that you SAW her use that same brush on every lady there, just on you. The rest appears to be assumption.
If you have an issue with someone using a brush on your face, you should make sure that you tell the SAs that. You always have the option to say no or step back and out of the way if an SA tries to use a brush on you.
