My grandson is also using a generic Listerine product to get rid of flakes. He's had this condition since he was a baby & I would use baby oil & a fine tooth comb before a shampoo. So far it's helping him.

I hope he is not under 12 years of age since there is a warning on the bottle not for use on children under 12 years of age.

That warning is for rinsing one's mouth with it since a little is always swallowed or assumed it may be.

I always wonder, what draws someone to use WEN anyway? I have used regular store shampoo, as has all my family for ages, and our hair is wonderful, soft, and in excellent condition. Why would anyone choose to use a shampoo that needs 12-26 pumps (???), when a little goes a long way with shampoo. I just don't see the attraction to the product.

Be very, very, very careful how you word things when it comes to WEN. Trust me on this one. Not trying to be rude to you or anything, just giving you fair warning.

I understand completely. It can be quite the hornets nest for some reason.

It is an antiseptic that will kill germs and fungus, which causes dandruff and the like.

That's pretty interesting. I didn't know dandruff was caused by germs and fungus. Learn something new everyday.

Most harder to get rid of kind is caused by fungus and infections like cradle cap, a fungus.

Let's face it, as much as other people's linguistic/moral/financial/etc. errors may really tick someone off there really isn't any good reason to belittle them by announcing it to the entire group. What's the point anyway? If you are in a workplace would you be part of a conversation and call someone out for making what you consider a mistake in grammar? Do that more than once in the corporate world and I'm pretty sure you will be out of a job soon. Do it once to the wrong person and you will most likely be on your way to the unemployment office that week. It's just not good manners. Even telling them in private most likely will not be well-received. People generally don't appreciate being corrected unless they ask you for help in that area. And in cases like we have in this forum the entire thread goes off-topic.

BTW, I'm a Wenner and I think the product is great for me. I know some people can't or don't want to invest the money or extra time because it is more time-consuming. But speaking for myself and my family/friends who now use Wen, we don't have any buildup or scalp issues, we feel our hair is in much better shape and looks better on a daily basis as well. Plus it's very rewarding to use and makes me feel like I'm at a spa. I just get a lot of enjoyment out of it while I use it and as I touch my hair throughout the day. My natural color seems to look better than ever.

I know some people don't want to use it and that's fine. If you want to use it come on over to the Wen board and ask questions! If you don't want to use it no problem Smiley Wink

THIS is the most intellectual and informative reply that was made.

With that being said, one could also try fighting the buildup with ACV unfiltered (with the mother).

my father was a barber and this of course was many years ago , But he recommended Listerine ,the original blue kind for dandruff and psoriasis because it was an old remedy and it works , He learned it in Barber college , in new England .massage on and leave on for 30 min to 1 hour and shampoo.

I love to hear alternate ways to use products.
