I've never heard of the term, but I bet my Dr. Denese pads brush across my lips when I use them, my random serums too, even though it's not actually intentional.  At night, I intentionally apply my Tretinoin to my lip rim.

Facial acids are not painful.  Glycolic acid is one, salicylic acid is another.  Just don't lick your lips afterwards.  Might taste yucky.

I use the same AHA products on my lips that I use on other parts of my body.  I never thought it would be unusual.  I also use lip products.

Is that a special acid treatment or just regular AHAs?

I'm using a sugar lip scrub made specifically for lips.

It's in a tube like lipstick, and you apply it like such, and then wipe it off, along with any dry and/or loose skin.

I am currently using a lemon sugar one from Laura Geller's site.

Stacked Skincare makes a Hydrating Lip Peel.  It's a liquid that comes in a roll-on.  Among the other ingredients it includes Glycolic and Lactic acid to exfoliate and dissolve dead skin.  Also includes Green Tea Extract.  It does recommend you immediately apply something over it since it is bitter-tasting.
