I have very dark hair that grows amazingly fast. I started going seriously gray in my late 30's. I've been coloring it ever since, I think I'm probably 50% gray under the dye. But I won't even consider letting it go gray now (I'm 55) because I still work and probably will for at least the next 12 years. I love my job and I want to remain involved and relevant. My immediate boss is 37 and her boss is in his mid 40's. I don't want to risk becoming the "older lady in the corner". Like it or not, when a woman goes gray, co-workers who are in their 30's and 40's see and old woman and all the old stereotypes (some of which we do to ourselves) kick in. I work at looking ageless and coloring my hair is a big part of that.

I worked in an environment like that for many years...and let me tell you, I am GLAD to be out of it! I manage my husband's office now, and as long as I am "put together" nicely, it doesn't matter how old I am, or what color my hair is. I'm 60 now, and loving being free from the judgement of co-workers!

Going grey is not for everyone, but there are some very stunning women out there with grey or silver hair. IMO, some look far better in their natural color; others do not. Do what feels right to you. If you don't like it, you can always change it again.

I colored my hair years before I ever got a single gray because I always wanted to be a redhead. Now that I'm getting some grays, it is harder to get the color to hold and stay true in those places and I don't know what my plan will be. I suppose that once I'm all gray, I'll stop coloring, but I'm going to hang on to being a redhead for as long as I can. {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

I won't go grey because my hair is turning white. I still color my hair and feel I look better with color. An all white look may appeal to me someday but that would be in the future.

That look just is not for me. Everyone has their own personal preference. I have seen many women who look beautiful and I have seen many that doesn't flatter their looks. If it works and that is what you want, then do it. I do like my blonde highlighted hair. BTW my 93 year old Mom still gets her hair colored a strawberry blonde and no one believes that she is 93.
