Laura Mercier Ultra Blur Translucent Powder ?

Doesn't the "puff" take off your foundation and blush that you have applied? How clean can a "puff" be without laundering it? Seems a brush would be a better choice.

Does this compare, somewhat at least, to bareMinerals Mineral Veil? I use it and like it.

Yes, Nordstrom sells it for $52.00 without puff and it's on sale along with a separate line item for the "puff". Both now online.

Re: Laura Mercier Ultra Blur Translucent Powder ?

Here is the response from Laura Mercier:

Thank you for contacting Laura Mercier.

I would be glad to answer your inquiry about the Ultra Blur Translucent Setting Powder, and I'm sorry to hear that QVC doesn't address your questions.
  1. Ultra Blur Translucent Setting Powder should be applied after foundation and concealer, but before the blush and bronzer, to help set your base makeup in place and keep oiliness at bay. The puff won't take off the foundation. Press a puff onto the skin using a rolling motion to set makeup.
  2. It totally depends on how frequently you wear or get dirty with your puff. I would recommend regularly washing your puffs. It's important to remember, though, that a clean-down layer will keep you a lot warmer than a dirty one, so I'd recommend cleaning twice or more a season. I suggest gently hand-washing it with lukewarm water and a mild soap. Then lay them flat on a towel to dry overnight.
  3. Choosing between a powder puff or brush is going to depend on the amount of coverage you want. If you want a very matte look for your undereye area, go for a powder puff, which is a soft pad, usually made of cotton or velour, that's used to apply powder to the skin. For softer, lighter coverage, you'll likely prefer a brush because the product is diffused more on the skin than with a puff.

But, item response #2: "Twice a season?" Doesn't sound clean to me. And who needs one more chore?

Re: Laura Mercier Ultra Blur Translucent Powder ?

I've used it for years and never applied with puff.

I use a large brush then press with my fingers on to my face.

@ahoymate  - Then buy a pack of the velour puffs from Amazon and toss them after a while.  Then you won't have another "chore."  The ones from Amazon work just as well.

Thanks JudyL. I prefer a brush vs. this puff. Buying 2 does not satisfy the cleasnliness issue.

Nordstrom is selling them for $15.00 now. Of course free s&h.

@ahoymate  - Seems the puff issue is a moot point then if you know you already want to use a brush.

Yes, it is. But, concerning LM doesn't give these kind of details in the website or the QVC presentation.

@ahoymate  - Yes agree they should at least say that the puff can be washed and on a regular basis.  Can't remember in last night's presentation when they were showing the powder if the vendor mentioned the rolling motion was to keep the powder from disturbing the foundation.  I do know he said it helped it to stay on.  In all my years of wearing makeup, this rolling motion is something new to me.  I've also seen it recently on YT videos too. Maybe it's a trick that makeup artists have been using for years and it's just now being shown?  I think it looks rather silly.  If I use one of my puffs, I'll just keep doing it my old-fashioned way.  LOL
