My fall/winter reds are BB's Claret and Red Stilleto. For day I love the BB Crushed formula which is a lipstick/balm. I chose the shade Regal...a blue red.
After aplication, I blot it down, put on some more and blot again. Next is clear gloss.
With a red lip of any formula, a lip pencil is essential.

@Harpa wrote:@Shanus Last night I was flipping by PBS on their special on the Althrop estate. What I was taken with was the red lip on the old paintings on most of the women! Nothing on the eyes, though.
Lots of blush, too! Man, those cheeks were rosey!
From another source....one can only assume that's the way it was....it was the French court ladies who painted their lips & cheeks. The French were always considered to be more fashionable. And the English women followed suit.
@Harpa A red lip is a classic shade, especially in France.

For anyone who like a red lip, you can start out by applying by dabbing on w/ finger and not using from the tube. It gives the look of not trying to be prfect, but gives the color.
