Is anyone else over the “Dewey” look?

[ Edited ]

I was so happy to see Laura Geller had Etheral Rose back so I ordered 2. It's not the same. It makes my face all shiny. Maybe it's because as a teenager I had really oily skin & was always trying to make it not so shiny. It seems like so many products now are shiny. I don't think I look good in any of them. I haven't seen many "dewey" looks on anyone else that I think are particularly flattering either. Maybe it's just me.

Not me, but there's a difference between shiny and dewey.  Totally matte skin looks old IMO.

I’m all about a glowy foundation.

The older you get the more you need a dewy look, I am 79 yrs old and matte would show all my wrinkles, and where I have no wrinkles it makes my skin look old

@NeNe1010

It's not just you.  I was never on the dewy/glowy look train.  On me it looks oily or greasy.  I do like highlighter on the tops of my cheekbones and if I think about it, the tip of my nose.  Not chin or forehead.  I have a dry complexion but it never looks dry because of the skincare I use.  I wear natural finish, satin or matte foundations.

I agree with you, @NeNe 1010. I've had an oily complexion all my life. To me, "dewy" looks greasy - a look I've tried to avoid for over 50 years! I prefer matte for me even tho I'm 73 yrs old.

I've never been a fan of the dewy look.

No.  I like dewy.

I don't like matte/dry.

But, I also don't like shiny.

Do the math.

I’m 69 & when I use “dewy” stuff, to me it accentuates any lines on my skin. Like I have sparkles or something. Maybe I’m doing it wrong. I’ll watch some tutorials. Glad it works for you.

I never have understood that dewy look. I prefer the look of skin with a satin finish. Dewy usually looks too damp, moist and sweaty, then the highlighter makes it all look like an oil slick. I do not find it attractive at all.

Besides that, after a certain age, skin isn't dewy and it can't be faked.
