I use Wen or Tressame deep cleansing shampoo. I use Dawn on my sponges. I don't have an odor problem on my IT brushes either. Maybe it's your product (make-up). Just a guess.

I clean all of my brushes, including my IT brushes, with rubbing alcohol. I spray some on a paper towel and then wipe the brushes gently back and forth until clean. Saw this on a Wayne Goss YouTube segment. The brushes are clean and soft.

I asked this question on IT's FB page and they replied to use Purity.

I clean all of my brushes with my facial soap, which is Paula's Choice Skin Balancing Cleanser. It has worked for me. I lay them sideways over a bowl covered with a towel to dry - so the brush part isn't touching anything and the water doesn't drip back into the head. Smile

I clean my brushes using rubbing alcohol from the drugstore. It keeps them clean and sterile and it dries quickly. It has NOT damaged my makeup brushes and they keep their shape very well. It works much better than soap and water and it costs pennies! (got the tip from gossmakeupartist on you tube)

You can use anything, really. I use whatever hand cleanser I have near the sink. Just be sure to let them dry thoroughly---and lay them on their side to dry.

I buy antibacterial liquid hand soap, that I have on my bathroom sink in a dispenser. I just get a plastic solo cup and squirt a little soap in the cup, fill with warm water, and stick my brushes in there and swish them around, up and down until they are clean. I then pour out the dirty water, and rinse them good with clear cool water in the cup, blot them dry with a towel and lay them flat to dry on a clean washcloth.

Last time I washed my brushes I used a strengthening shampoo that I didn't like that much for my hair, it worked pretty well. Or I use face cleanser or hand soap. Just make sure to rinse them well with cool water, squeeze out the excess water, reshape and dry flat.

I use Neutrogena shampoo, rinse them, and stand them upside down in a glass to dry.
