Color is NOT shampoo'd out!! You are not supposed to wash your hair for a couple days after coloring to help retain the color, much less right after. HIGHLIGHTS are washed out.

I tried this last night. I usually don't wash my hair but once every 4 days anyway so when I washed it last night, I just scrubbed my scalp and rinsed with water. We'll see what happens the next few times I try this. My hair is coarse, naturally gray and I have to admit it was softer when I dried it last night than usual.

Uhh yea! I shampoo 2 or 3 Xs a month, but the rest of the time, I co-wash (use conditioner). SHE only uses water. Disgusting!
No can do!

If you're a human being, you're going to smell if you go unwashed. And if you don't wash your body you are going to be a breeding ground for infections, fungus and bacteria. Your hair and scalp is subject to the same environment as the rest of your body.
As for the woman in the article, I'm not saying you should wash your hair every day but no one should flatter themselves into thinking that your hair and scalp doesn't smell if it goes unwashed for several days much less several years.

I get the same thing from Wen so I totally get where she's coming from. I only cleanse 2-3x/week myself.Good for her. I like my Wen but I have no problem with someone making the educated choice to not use shampoo or other cleansers. Her hair looked great in the pictures.
So if she says her hair retains color better, that must mean she colors her hair. Don't they have to shampoo the color out? Isn't her hair washed then? Or does she mean she just rinses the color out?
You should rinse hair color out very well. Shampooing is optional after color. I always add a tad shampoo after coloring. But it is better if you don't.
Hair naturally cleanses itself after a while. Providing you brush it alot, with a boar or natural bristle brush. . She says she rinses her hair, she just doesn't add shampoo.
