I sweat if I workout but I don't smell & my hair doesn't get oily, ever. I could easily just refresh my hairstyle with my flat iron & nobody would know it wasn't washed.

Re: Interesting....5 years without shampoo!

Yeah, mine isn't like that. Mine is greasy and sweaty and drenched. If I took a flatiron to it, it would look greasy and sweaty....and dry and flat. Lol!! To each their own. I just think it's gross.

Lol! If I washed mine everyday you'd think it was a rats nest!

Re: Interesting....5 years without shampoo!

Just saw a commercial on E! for "Tresemme 7 Day Keratin Smooth Heat Activated Treatment"...they promoted it as a leave-in for 7 days...I assume gals aren't washing every day with stuff like this...yes? Also, when you sweat, you're doing a mini-detox...the more you sweat over time, the less "greasy & funky" you should have. Smiley Happy

I don't know, I'm just to westernized maybe, but I think it's gross. Your scalp gets dirty just like the rest of your body. I shower and shampoo everyday. To each their own, but I definitely would not appreciate it if my husband didn't wash his hair, I can't imagine the odor!

If she isn't using baking soda or cider vinegar anymore, the article didn't make that clear to me, how does she not stink? My daughter has tried the water only thing a couple of times and without good results. I understand this woman did it over time, but I still cannot imagine. I hate that dirty head smell.

I know ALOT of posters won't believe this but...since the No Poo Movement is so popular within the vegan/raw world, DIET plays a lot with the absence of smell. "You are what you eat"...if ingesting only clean food fruits/veggies (absent of any animal product), you won't have a lot of body odor....and that includes your head, as well. I've witness that 1st hand.

</ OMG! I've been saying this for at least 10 years! I truly think dairy is the culprit when it comes to BO & body funk. I have never been smelly or stinky even on the rare occasion that I sweat but I don't consume very much dairy. Cultures that consume high amounts of dairy seem to omit that funky kind of smell. I insist that there's a direct correlation between dairy consumption & body odor!

This is absolutely true. The US is one of the few countries in the world where cow milk is intended to be consumed by adults. When traveling to a lot of countries, esp. In Asia, it is considerate to stop eating so much dairy a week out in order not to offend people's noses.
I come from a place where I grew up with many different cultures (US military base) & I also have a job where I deal with a decent cultural cross section. None of the Asian families I grew up with ever had BO! I have never liked milk & don't drink it. I think I actually have a weird mental block that cow milk was meant for cow babies but then again, I didn't drink it when I was an infant either.

I agree. I'm eating more plant based stuff and very little of the rest, including dairy. Mother's milk is the best for humans. Once we're weaned, we don't need milk. Watch Udderly Amazing (maybe it's on you tube). It makes perfect sense.

Re: Interesting....5 years without shampoo!

I get what you are saying, Dublingrl, but some people just don't get funky/smelly & don't need to wash their hair everyday. I personally don't even smell when I sweat (attribute to avoiding dairy--see previous comments). I agree it's something that not everybody can get away with but her points are very valid & part of the reason why I was easily able to transition to a cleansing conditioner (wen).

I'll have to check that out! I've opposed cows milk since infancy. I never get that families go through gallons in a couple days. I keep a quart or 1/2 gallon on hand in case a recipe calls for it but 99% of the time, it spoils before I can use it. I'm experimenting with almond & coconut milk for recipes but I still love my BUTTER!!!!

Yeah, ugh, no. I'm a new WEN convert so I get not wanting to use certain types of products, but I can't imagine using NOTHING--and then bragging about it. That's like bragging that you don't use soap on your body. What's the point, really?
