@Katcat1 wrote:@hovis, Marula oil has helped me. I apply a drop at bedtime and massage into my face. If you are extremely dry, apply once during the day too. No more dryness but rather soft, hydrated skin. I purchase Acure Organics Marula oil for under $20. It absorbs quickly and is much lighter in texture than argan.
I think it was you who recommended the Marula oil here on this forum not too long ago and so I bought the Acure. IT"S WONDERFUL!! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I have replaced my camellia oil with the marula and my skin is loving it.![]()
btw: pureformulas dot com has it for $16 w/free sh.![]()

Face washes---Josie Maran argan oil...Burts Bees coconut & argan oil...Dr. Bonner organic coconut oil & remove with warm face cloth. After cleansing I use Heritage Rose petal facial mist. I use rose water on a cotton round or Thayers aloe as a toner to remover any traces of whatever.
Moisturizer---Josie Maran Face Butter or " Fresh" rose face cream...JM Argan oil...Sometimes I will add argan oil to my moisturizer or just use the oil. I do use a serum at night. Sometimes Life Flow Rose hipseed oil........ Face exfoliater---I now make my own with olive oil, raw honey & organic sugar...I have a small plastic air tight container and it lasts for a month. Very hydrating & is natural and works better than what I used to use which was Philosophy's exfoliating wash which I just finished. Body Wash---Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter...Shea Moisture Olive oil & green tea...Jasons Lavender. Body Moisturizer---using up most products I have but my favorite is Josie Maran's Body butters. Body Exfoliater- Josie Maran's Body Scrub...Newly gifted love is "fresh" body polish.

@AspenGrove wrote:My dermatologist explained that the myth of drinking water as a remedy for dry skin has been around a long time. She explained what really causes dry skin and how I could treat it. Has nothing to do with drinking water. There are many good articles on the Net about this. A quick google led me to these three articles with good, overall info: Article 1, Article 2, and Article 3.
@AspenGrove, so glad you posted this, although it's pretty much spitting in the wind.
As long as one is not dehydrated, drinking more water will do nothing other than increase your trips to the bathroom.
I think one reason people believe this is that it sounds as if it makes sense.

If a person is not drinking enough fluids it will absolutely show in the skin. How does a doctor test to see if a person is well hydrated? He pinches the skin on the back of the hand.

You do not need to buy expensive body products, try mild soaps, body wash, get lotions with ceramindes in them.

My doctor tests my blood and urine. Pee is a good indicator of hydration, skin is not.

Actually, @SilleeMee, if you are severly dehydrated, your skin when pinched will not bounce back easily. But if you are that dehydrated, you've got other problems going on. A person in generally good health is not that dehydrated, so drinking an excess of water will do nothing for the skin.
The upshot is of course to drink enough fluids. That's a given for health in general.
