Ok, I am forever complaining about my challenging, coarse, wiry, dry, hair that I can never keep frizz-free in summer, no matter what I use or do (drawer full of hair products). So I went to a salon to get highlights, and she blow dried it, then flat ironed it using the typical technique they use (to my chagrin) as I thought it would frizz immediately leaving the salon.
How wrong I was !! What?? It has held frizz - free in 100% humidity for several days (wearing a shower cap)- I am freaking amazed!! So what do you think is the secret?? Was it the products? She used Goldwell and KMS. Was it technique?? Was it the salon blow dryer?
If you have difficult hair, what are your tips for blow drying and staying frizz-free?? I NEED to be able to replicate this- Thanks forum friends! 💝

@Skyegirl21 I can't wait for the answers. Unfortunately, I suspect it might have been the flat iron that made the difference. I do get positive results from a flat-iron, but over time I also get dry damaged hair....not a good trade-off. So for a special occasion, it is an answer....long term, a disaster. The journey continues....

The flat iron. There are products on the market you can use before flat ironing (and blow drying) to protect it from heat damage. But you still don't want to put it on the highest heat. And move it quckly down your hair, don't let it just sit on the same spot.

The products used probably contained a good deal of silicones. That would be my best guess.

I don't know if this will help, but here's a suggestion. I've always had straight as an arrow, shiny hair. In the last two years, my hair has developed a wave that drives me insane. I can blow dry my hair and it will be straight, but in five minutes, the wave starts moving in. Anyway, when I go to my hairdresser, she is able to do something that keeps my hair straight. Honestly, she uses just a tiny bit of product and then blows it out. So the last time I saw her, I told her my frustration when I do my own hair. She explained that since my hair is turning gray, the outer layers of the hair shafts have been stripped of color and as a result, tend to curl. She showed me what she uses on my hair - Noodle Head Beyond the Zone. Believe it or not, it's for curly hair, but it works to relax curls and waves and yes, it works. You can get it in beauty supply places or from online sellers.

@Skyegirl21 My daughter doesn't really style her hair much (3 children-9,7 & 5), but she started using the Ecoslay brand of hair care & her hair looks amazing.
She has masses of frizzy (Sorry baby.) hair.
She does yoga with a woman on youtube & actually messaged her to see what she used on her hair.
She gave me some of the Banana Cream deep conditioner to try on my hair, which is the exact opposite of her hair. Stick straight & thin, but the conditioner is fabulous.
You should contact them for recommendations & try it.

I think it is mostly the technique. My hair is extremely frizzy in the summer months. Nothing, and I mean nothing I do gets rid of the frizz. When I get my hair blown out it is straight and will last until I wash it. The stylist just uses a blow dryer, no flat iron.

Simply put, to do this without damaging your hair:
It's all about first getting your hair's cuticle to lay flat while it's still sopping wet by starting with good ingredients that are effective.
Second, applying products that resist the humidity, using tools and a technique that doesn't raise the cuticle. If your products are good but your techniques are lacking, you'll still get frizz.
Third, getting from wet to dry without without doing anything that damages or raises the cuticle. It isn't the hairdryer. I may use a diffuser, or dry in the sun. In winter I just use the space heater that's on in the room anyhow.
My hair is below my shoulder blades, coarse on top, fine below, wirey, dry, and my curls have fragile kinks. After decades of uncontrollable frizzy broken hair, I'm now frizz free.

If you think about it, the salon person understood the products, tools, techniques - and knew she could achieve a certain outcome. Your thoughts create your reality so change the negative words you're using (bolded) and hold the belief that you have wonderful hair and can get the result you want every time.
